Some time ago, I took in the pistons and a block to get it finish honed. I was asked several questions about how the engine would be used. The one thing I was not asked was about whether I would be drag racing it. I missed that detail myself. It will see extensive track duty. Fast forward to a good time later, when I finally started assembling the engine. The piston-to-bore clearance was correct for street use, but not drag racing. Fortunately, I found my receipt and took the block back to Joe's, The counterman was naturally skeptical about my claim, but after a short discussion, he said they'd check it out. I waited about a week and called about progress. They were done and didn't charge me. The clearances checked out. In short, this was not made my problem and was taken care of with the utmost professionalism. Several friends and I have been building and rebuilding engines for over 30 years, and we were all pleasantly surprised by how I was treated. Thus far, their work has been good, and the attitudes even better. This is a business with seldom seen integrity.

I've known Clay Twigg for close to forty years,he does excellent work and treats everyone with professionalism very seldom seen today in any business,just dropped off an early Hemi engine to him today and can't wait to see the results

Wow, the service here is incredible! Now I know nothing of engines, my husband was working on our boat engine and I was tasked with picking up some parts from Joes engine shop. The guy at the front desk was amazing, he was helpful and extremely flexible with my requests. He answered all questions and even helped weeks later when we called with an issue. I will never go to another shop, keep up the good work guys!! Thanks a ton!

What can I say about this shop and Clay, the owner? To back up a little Ive been looking for someone to do the machine work on my 1970 z28 engine. I had talked to several other shops that were both astronomical in price and couldnt give me a solid timeline for completing the work. One even argued with me as to what work I wanted done! I went to Joes engine shop and talked to clay (the owner). Hes friendly, Easy going, has all the proper equipment to build a high quality racing motor, and was perfectly fine with the planned machine work. His price was significantly cheaper than the other guys and said drop it off in two weeks and see you a few weeks later. I had to scramble to get stuff there when he wanted it and he was quick to get some shop guys to help carry everything in. As promised, everything was done exactly to the date he committed to. He even called a few days ahead to let me know that he was on track. Also called me a week earlier to discuss the balancing procedure to ensure we were both on the same page (we were). In the end the work quality was superb! Clean, neat, obvious attention to detail as well as finished on time and at his estimated price. If you want quality machine or engine work, you wont find anyone better!
