Rick, a) You were offered a creek-side table by the railing (east side), you declined because it wasn't the "right" rail. You specifically wanted one of four tables (that were already seated) by the north rail. b) You were offered one of four creek-side tables, on the north side, in a private indoor dining room. You declined that as well. c) You were offered to wait for a table at your "specifically requested location" to become available, as we explained that a couple had just finished their dinner, were moving on to desserts, and would be leaving within a half hour. You declined that also. Short of kicking someone else out of their table, I don't know what else we could have done to make you happy? When you make reservations for a restaurant - and I'm pretty sure this applies everywhere - you reserve *a* table, not a specific table number or assignment, and you get seated with what's available. We require reservations to help keep things running smoothly, both in the dining room and kitchen, and the reservations have nothing to do with table placement or where you sit (we have 39 tables overall, we never seat more than 15 at once unless for a private or special event) I'll say it once more: if you're truly visiting AZA to celebrate an event with someone special and looking forward to trying the food, where you sit should have absolutely nothing to do with it. The company you keep and the food you could have enjoyed would have been all the atmosphere you need.

Was looking forward to trying the food here, as the chef reviews are amazing and my dinner guest had been here before and had a great time. With the chef even sitting down with them for a few minutes. Made a "reservation" for a table next to the water, explaining that it was to celebrate our engagement. And they accepted that "reservation". Special event, special chef, right? But we never got a chance to try the food. Arrived on time, and they had our reservation, but all of the tables by the water were filled. When we asked about our reserved table, we were told that tables were "first come, first served". Hmmm.... So we made a reservation, but no table was reserved. What if all of the tables were taken? "First come, first served", right? So no table? Apparently, a reservation doesn't actually reserve anything. When we explained that we reserved a special table for a special event, we were literally told (by an unsmiling person), "Well, if it's a special occasion, it's about who you are with and not where you sit". So, our communication ahead of time with this restaurant meant less than nothing. And since it wasn't about where we sit, we left to sit at another restaurant. I wish I could have gotten to try the food of a chef with a great reputation. But the front of the house chased us away, with attitude and ignoring our reservation. Chef, even if your front of house staff is family, friends or spouse, you really need to make sure that they are as quality and friendly as you are. They failed us.
