Hi Sam Batcharj, I'd really appreciate the opportunity to speak to you about your review, if you have a spare moment please could you get in touch on [email protected] We are restaurant+bar and offer take away as well but at peak times, when our 150 cover restaurant is very busy, we do suspend take away for the busiest period. This is to ensure our guests in the restaurant get good service and that our chefs are not overstretched. This is our priority to ensure our staff feel appreciated and not overwhelmed at work. There is a very clear note "subject to availability" next to the take away offer sticker and also we explained to you as to why on that particular evening we were forced to suspend take away and yet you decided to write this. ADVERTISING PRODUCT BUT REFUSED TO SERVE I've used this restaurant many times on a Saturday evening. Today - DESPITE ADVERTISING TAKEAWAY fish & chips the chap said they wouldn't serve today - very disappointing way to run a business. Rating reflects this, food always 5*.

Hi "No No", I'm concerned about the poor rating you've given us and the comments you made. I am happy to see that smiles were present whilst serving you but I disagree that we are "like fastfood" as you put it. We are well established restaurant with casual service serving quality food. We prepare all food on premises and cook to order by skilled chefs. We are proud of our chefs and some of them have been with us for several years. Lovely view over the harbour. Friendly service. It was like fastfood served with a smile but no finesse. It was expensive and not value for money.

Try the Loch Fyne. It suffers disproportionately for not being the cool fish and chips place on the block. It's very good. I've been a few times, eventually lured in by the reassurance that I didn't need to order sea food. That's true too, there are burgers and a few other dishes that didn't come from the sea. Really, Loch Fyne is about the sea food. I eventually got more adventurous but still recommend the loin of cod and double cooked chips (its essentially posh fish and chips). I like Loch Fyne because the staff are quick and attentive. Of your nearby fish choices; I think Fyne is the swiftest. I don't think quality suffers at all. Importantly, Fyne is a restaurant to rather than a posh chippy. I've seen well behavioured youngsters here but never a stroller. My most recent trip was during the final days of the official lockdown but when biosecurity was still very important. Loch Fyne has the least squished restaurant on the block. Recommended. [May 2022 update: Still good, staffing up as the crowds return]
