I bought a custom 14 x 27 from Dave last year. Really enjoyed process of building it. Time to build was great and delivery spot on. Board performed well; most common use was ocean paddling in New England (Buzzards Bay) up and down wind performance was very good, stable enough in side currents and chop. Lots of winter paddling as well no issues in cold water. I have a major concern / disappointment though: the board has warped / delaminated extensively on the front hull. Dave told me this was due to extensive heat exposure. The bottom / hull is black. I would tell anyone buying one of these boards do NOT GET BLACK....or else theres a design flaw. I was sort of told: "....too bad, your fault" though in truth I was VERY careful to avoid excessive sun exposure. I've had black surfboards in the past. I have 2 other SUP's sitting at home getting lots more direct sun and there have been NO issues. So buyer beware.....
The Kings crew are great people who make great boards (and foils). I have 4 of their boards in my garage and cant wait until I come up with a good enough reason to convince my wife to let me buy another.
Treating myself to a new King's Dauminator was the nicest thing I have done for myself in many years! The board is awesome and my surfing experiences are so much more enjoyable. The board has taken my surfing to an entirely new level. Working with Dave and Rhonda was a pleasure. They are totally focused on quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. Get a King's board. You will not be disappointed.
