Fur felt hats are straight from Stetson (and others) and marked up over 50% ($300 vs $200). They also store the hats in stacks, exposed to sun and dust (should be boxed). The one I tried on had a line on the crown that the shopkeeper couldn't quite brush off. Love the concept, but prices are unreasonable .
What a complete letdown! I was surprised to find that all of the employees totally lacked personality and any hint of the sense "customer service". We came here solely based on the recommendation given by another local shop owner who didn't have what my fiancé needed to complete his wedding ensemble. I was very impressed by the quality and abundance of gentlemen's attire and accessories that were found here. The atmosphere makes you feel as if you're shopping in the 30s or 40s, which I personally enjoyed as a vintage enthusiast. However, the most crucial part of any shopping experience is how you are treated. And if you're treated well, you're likely to spend even more money than you originally intended. With that said, I feel as if we were judged immediately upon walking through their doors. My husband-to-be is in construction by profession so based on appearance and clothing alone, one might assume he's quite unrefined and furthest from a dandy type. My motto in life: don't make any assumptions about anyone ever. None of the employees acknowledged either of us. In fact, they seemed to all disappear from their places once we began moving about the store. They watched us walk around like hawks yet said not one word. It wasn't until my fiancé made actual eye contact with an English employee, when he generically said, "Is there something I can help you with?" Not even a follow up of, "Well I'm here to help in case you need it." We were in there but 5 agonizing minutes and I'd never wanted to run out of a store so quickly. What a terrible and awkward first experience here, and such a shame! Sadly, I don't know if I'd ever give this place my time again, let alone any of my money. UPDATE: Unbeknownst to me while I was writing this review, my fiancé decided to give them a second chance. He called the store to have them ship the hat he was looking for (which they apparently had in stock at the store, but how would we have known that if no one bothered to help us anyway). Even though my fiancé did not indicate any rush whatsoever, the store overnighted the hat anyway without asking for permission. They didn't give an accurate quote on pricing or shipping speed (in fact, they told him it would take a week) though they did state they would adjust the price to a lower amount because they couldn't charge San Francisco tax for non-residents. The hat that was ordered is listed over $100 less at other stores, so they charged $325 for a hat that normally costs $200. We didn't know this until I asked my future husband why there was a near $400 charge on our credit card. I had to do my own investigating and found out they not only charged us $100 over MSRP, but also charged us nearly $100 in shipping. This was a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson learned, and I will NEVER give this place my business ever again! VERY DISHONEST!!!
This is a review for the babershop within Cable Car Clothiers. I get my haircut here with Luis. He is a very nice guy who gives a great haircut and works hard to make sure you are happy. Never pushing haircare products like other salons, but happy to provide them if requested. This is an old school place that provides service like it used to be. Highly recommend him.
They went above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for. This is a classy place maintaining a level of customer experience and quality that rarely exists anymore. Bring them your business and respect, they surely have mine.
Dont understand why they think its ok to harass their women customers? Incredibly inappropriate
