I was a Jesuit volunteer in 2018 and had a horrible experience with them. I was placed in Sacramento, CA and given no support for my job, living, or transportation. Our in-city coordinator was useless and only interested in the JVCs paycheck in my opinion. I was fired without any cause or warning from my service site, and without hearing anything from my side, I was terminated from the program and forced out of the shared housing where I lived. It was extremely traumatic and nearly ruined my faith in the Catholic Church. I know volunteers have good intentions, but its seriously an unfair deal-working for free in this economy makes no sense! JVC is only interested in making money and exploiting its volunteers.
