My GF told them specifically how much hair to cut off took an extra two inches. Wouldnt recommend to anyone still charged full price as well.

Hi Leighton. I saw your response and immediately shared it with your Stylist. She was really surprised and upset by what you said. She said that she checked in with you as she went through your haircut to make sure it was customized to your wants, and you approved of everything that she suggested. She said you expressed how happy you were when you were done, so she was caught off guard by this review. We are a family owned and operated business. We really do pride ourselves on giving a five star experience. As a small business these reviews are very important. as Hairstylists we are in the business of making people happy, we would never intentionally not listen to our guest and chop off 6 inches of their hair when they only wanted a trim. There must have been a communication error somewhere along the line if this was the case. On behalf of Sulimays I would like to apologize that you did not have a 5 star experience.

I came in with pretty long hair, down to around my chin. Asked for 2" off, and said explicitly that I wanted to keep most of the length, just needed it cleaned up. Left with my hair about 6" shorter. I should have stopped her, but the damage was done so I figured I'd trust that the result would be worth the lost length, and she just kept cutting more and more off. It's not awful, but nothing special. A very average, short men's cut. Slightly nicer than you'd get from a Great Clips or something. Edit: Regarding the owner response, the stylist hardly said a word to me as she destroyed my hair, aside from a little small talk at the start. If there were such a thing as stylistic malpractice, this would be a textbook example. Also her clippers are bent and seriously irritated my neckline (it still hurts), but that's on me for not mentioning it since I just wanted the damage to stop.

Hi Alison. I responded to your Yelp review as well. I own both Sulimays Fairmount and Manayunk locations. We most certainly want to keep our guests happy at both locations. I spoke with your stylist and she feels terrible about this review. She didnt realize that you were unhappy with your haircut. She said that she gave you a trim all over and then you asked for the top to be shorter, so she went back in and cut the top shorter. She would be happy to have you come back in and thin out your hair if youd like the thinning shears to be used. Please give a call within a week of your services if youd like this done. On behalf of my team I sincerely apologize for the top being cut too short.

I usually go to Sulimay's in Fairmount and LOVE it. But, out of convenience for location, I went here. I am growing out my pixie cut and very clearly stated that I wanted the back and sides trimmed, and for the stylist to thin out the bulk using thinning shears (as they have done in Fairmount). The stylist basically just gave me a full trim and now, I'm set back in terms of growing out my pixie. She took way too much off the top, and left the back too long (the opposite of what I asked for). Furthermore , she never took out the thinning shears. I am very displeased with my hair.
