i adopted a cat there that said on her card that she was 2 years old, turns out after i took her home and to the vet that shes actually around 10-12. she also is pretty skinny and has no teeth so with the shelter feeding her hard food, she couldnt eat it. makes me sad that no one noticed that. i still love her and will be keeping her of course! just wish i was informed correctly so i can be more prepared.
They've made some improvements, but they allow too many questionable "rescues" pull desirable pets before the public can adopt. These recuses are like child trafficking. They do minimal care for them and sell them at PetSmart for inflated prices. So, it's a money game. This agency has been informed that some of these "rescues" are providing inadequate care, but they look the other way. Also, forget about adopting a pet when you arrive. They want to put you through the ringer. Remember the days you could walk into the pound and they'd hand you a pet? Over. And so, if you go through one of the many money making "recuses" in town, be prepared for a full investigation along with intrusive and a long application. And then, you'll be paying them hundreds for that pet, if they like you enough. We used to have too many pets and potential adopters weren't being screened well enough for adoption. Plus, the facilities were inadequate. Now, we've gone the other way and made it more difficult to adopt. Las Vegas needs to work on moderation.
Me and my family went in to meet and more than likely adopt a kitten we found on the website. Adoption times said 11-7pm we walked in at 5pm and was turned away because the waitlist was closed? What kind of operation are they running. We live 45 mins away. Theres absolutely no way we will drive here everyday in hopes to adopt an animal. No wonder people buy. Needless to say we wont be back.
