We do have an intake process as do all shelters and rescues, especially since we are currently full and we told you that yesterday when you came in. We were trying to work with you to come up with a solution to help the kittens and find them a foster, which takes time, but you walked out while we were talking to you and trying to get your contact information unfortunately. If you'd still like help placing the kittens you are welcome to call us and we will work to find them a foster home as we tried to explain yesterday as you were walking out. You can call us at 615-451-7342. Thank you. (Also, please keep in mind, we are a private shelter funded by donations, and do not receive any government funding at all, as well as we are a no-kill shelter with limited resources so once we are full, we are full.)

Safe place for animals when it's convenient for them. I found three kittens. Couldn't keep them because my child is allergic to cats and they refuse to take them because they have a process they need to follow. Guess I'll take him to a shelter where they're just going to put them to sleep instead. Sorry to inconvenience you
This is a terrible place to adopt from! I have had terrible communication from this place! After almost 3 weeks of trying to adopt a kitten I get a call that Im chosen for the adoption. They thankful let me come and get the cat on thanksgiving, after speaking with the manager. I also left a voicemail regarding the disappointment of their communication skills. I take the kitten home whom now has been sneezing since 11-25-20. I contact the facility regarding my concerns, the person I spoke with tells me to take the cat to my vet. Shouldnt this facility be responsible for the health of this cat for 30 days of my adoption? Thats what other places policys are that Ive adopted from before. Im truly disappointed in this facility and I hope that some how they make much needed changes to better serve all the these animals! I spoke with the vet whom brushed me off by telling me to take the cat to my vet even though I just spent $80 dollars on adopting a sick kitten!
We are so sorry to hear you felt you had a bad experience at SPA. That was definitely not our intention. As we recall the dog you were most interested in meeting is in foster care not at our shelter location as stated on its listing on both our website and Petfinder so that would need to be arranged ahead of time to meet. However we're glad you were able to meet another dog that was here at the shelter at the time. We are very concerned as to why you felt uncomfortable and afraid or why you would think we'd call the police? There was absolutely no reason to. We do not discriminate against anyone so don't understand why you would even imply that. Again, we do apologize that you felt you had a bad experience and we don't want anyone to feel that way. We thank you for choosing adoption and wish you well on your journey to finding the perfect dog for you! Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks.

Original Post: If there was a rating of less than 1 or zero stars, that would have been my rating for this business. They have got to be some of the most unprofessional, rude, ignorant, and disrespectful people I have ever met. I have read different reviews about them in regards to communication issues and application delays, but I decided to give them a try after finding a dog on their site that I felt would be perfect for addition for the family. After a 2 1/2 hour drive; not only was I not able to meet the dog but I truly wonder if I was judged by the color of my skin as their attitude was rude and ignorant towards me; but so nice and friendly to the lovely couple that pulled up right before I arrived. The comments and conversations I had with not only the staff member on-site but the manager as well made me feel so uncomfortable and scared, I knew I had to leave immediately. I feared they would have called the police and even though I never raised my voice to them or allowed them the satisfaction of getting a rise out of me; I knew in this climate that could be dangerous for people that look like me. With that being said this was the worst experience I have ever had when trying to adopt/view an animal. Terrible and Scary experience. Reply to the Owner Response: Usually, after speaking my mind I would allow the business to respond and I would ignore it; but unfortunately, I can not in this situation. This shelter either gives daily terrible customer service to so many people that they have me confused with someone else or they decided it was best to lie and make up a response to people who expose their racism, unprofessionalism, and rudeness. The audacity to respond; at best incorrectly at worst tell flat-out lies, about our experience at your terribly run shelter is appalling and downright hurtful. The puppy in question was not in foster care, we confirmed the dogs location at your shelter before we drove 2 ½ hours, we did not meet another dog as it was implied by your disrespectful and possibly racist employee and Manager that their dogs would not be a good fit for people like us. Why would I contact you? There are no questions and when I last tried to express my concerns with one of your employees I received the worst treatment from your management. The next time I want to be lied to and disrespected I will call you. Thanks
