With a heavy heart, I am going to tell you this very sad and and cautionary tale about the the now top executive of NonPareil, that I implore every perspective family to read and consider the very real risks of sending your child to the an NonPareil location in your city. In March 2012 the man who now acts as both the both the President and Ceo reassured and promised a mother and her Autistic son in his twenties from out of state that the President would watch over the son, when he relocated to Plano to attend the NonPareil program since there wasn't an official campus yet. He said the Camden Apartments on Legacy in the meantime are filling that role. I remember it like yesterday, as it was in the newly remodeled cabal room. The founding President of NonPareil almost simultaneously began to pressure them to accommodate a roommate in need of financial help to move to an apartment the Camden apartments in closer proximity to NonPareil, who was tight on money when it came to paying rent. The Mother and her son graciously accepted the offer of the then President, who was in charge of giving tours. Over the next 3 plus years this Autistic son in his 20s began to struggle more and more. The roommate situation was becoming very untenable, yet the President needed it to continue as it was ultimately the second longterm lodgings organized at the expense both financially and emotionally on one of their Crew. This was the Presidents Second attempt at this, but sadly the consequences were far more damaging beyond repair. This truly kind hearted, intelligent, and earnest Crew member began to slip into depression, as those who pledged to look out for him looked the other way, even as he asked them directly for help. Eventually, he began on his own volition an intense inpatient treatment program and was there for many weeks, all while the President showed him no concern. After his devoting months yo the treatment and returning to NonPareil, he was very hopeful and positive. However, he returned as an "afterthought" a total non-priority. The production staff that was still at NonPareil at the time made every effort to help him. But, the President was already taking away their voice at NonPareil as he was pivoting the himself into full control of the nonprofit. Ultimately, this Crew Member from out of state, who graced so many with his kind, thoughtful, and soft spoken words regularly succumbed to his depression. Memories of these 3 years of which I saw so many of these acts of deception and neglect, are extremely painful for me, as I strongly believe they led to this horrible culmination of which was produced greatly by the now top executive of NonPareil in Plano. This heart breaking ending, Very likely could have all been avoided and the out of state crew member might be still flourishing as a talented game developer in today. But, those who verbally promised to lookout for him did not. The NonPareil executive staff in Plano, TX failed him and now it is too late. The damage is done abs cant be fixed. Many people are still left suffering emotionally. However, it is not too late for those visiting the Plano location or any location to protect themselves from the potential great downsides of joining the NonPareil and do their due diligence. When on a tour make an effort to have an open mind and try to not enable those making 6 figures at a nonprofit to use your fear for your childs future against you and cloud your judgement. The Institute a life changing place but not always for the better.

I have had the experience of assisting with those on the spectrum and the parents who have taken part of nonPareil. On the surface, it appears to be a thriving technology company that employs adults on the spectrum. But looks are deceiving. The company employs 2 people who have a background in technology to train and instruct the crew. Most employees have little to no experience with those on the spectrum or technology. The current management are just parents who are used to sell the virtues of the business they get while knowing that these benefits rarely extend to new incomers. Let me expand: The current President/CEO made nearly $170,000 for the 2017 fiscal year! Do the parents know that nearly $23,000 of this money was in the form of a bonus? This was equaled by the then CEO....meaning almost $340,000 was spent just on those two salaries alone. Time will tell what the new 990 form filed with the IRS for last year (2018) will expose. One wonders what the other corporate leaders make! The current CPO has ZERO clinical experience outside of college and is sold to be an expert. The CTO has 2 sons employed in the program, which begs if nepotism is a real factor in their employment. The Site Director at Plano also has no background in technology or autism but also has a son in the program, who is employed. Anyone see a pattern? The tag line for nonPareil was changed to Better futures for autism recently but one has to wonder, who is really better off? Tune in to the newest tax filings. Parents, ask who does have jobs? And what does your money go to fund? The best futures appear to be for the people running the place.
