I am a tenant and have been trying over and over again to get into contact with someone in management to no avail. Absolutely ridiculous.
Hi Mike, It seems like you had a not so great experience with your lease termination. We do have clear guidelines which we immediately clarify with tenants as soon as they first contact us about this topic. The termination fee is also listed as part of the guidelines. We checked our correspondence with you and we do see it was mentioned, although we understand it could've been missed/overlooked. We will try to be more precise in the future. I'm writing my review not because of the building or its immediate staff but due to the abysmal management at the Delmar. Unfortunately, Esther and Frances ended up being completely incompetent - especially Esther who "helped" us with our lease termination. We broke our lease and transferred it to another couple which is easy enough, but the management neglected to tell us they took our termination fee out of our rent credit rather than billing us directly before we even moved out and without our authorization, and then tried to blame it on a mistake by their "secretary" & pin it on the new tenants a month and a half after we left. Why would your secretary be keeping the books for a multi-million dollar management company? Don't you have accountants for that? Clearly not. We have no issue paying what's owed and obviously wanted to keep our promise, but they misled us and the new tenants about the numbers multiple times, even though Esther was informed about the situation by all parties involved months beforehand. They also withheld info about our preferential rent credits, saying "they couldn't find the credit" and then when we dug further, it suddenly appeared out of nowhere! Clearly just pure laziness and incompetence that ended up costing everyone money and stress. Oh - and she doesn't even have a phone number to reach her at. How convenient! Such a shame, the building and staff are so nice. Just be prepared to burn money upon move out, you can always count on Esther and Frances to completely waste your time and money!
