One star since they closed off their delivery radius
Good afternoon thank you for supporting our shop and for providing the feedback on your experience today, we are so disappointed to hear of it. We are fortunate that the shop is busy, However, we have been fighting the uphill battle in trying to locate, hire and appropriately train staff. Today, not only were we short staffed, but we also had several recent hires working, something we normally wouldnt do on weekends until we were comfortable, they could handle the busyness. The staff we have are good people, work hard and are dedicated to our guests. Although I am not aware of the full context of what transpired, I wonder if it may have been out of frustration as the type of response is not one that we would expect from them. By no means is this an excuse and we can assure you it will be addressed immediately. To properly address it, we would like to obtain further information. I write this review with a heavy heart because I've been a loyal customer for many years -- but this place has devolved so much. Today, not only did they mess up my order drastically, the store was truly so chaotic. The staff used to be so wonderful. When I went to correct their mistake, another woman came in who had ordered online had her order messed up as well. The staff said they would not honor it and in the back said 'not to come back' thinking they said it under their breath. I truly write this review wanting the place to get better.
I dont usually write reviews but I felt compelled to after I my first visit to West End. I love a good local business and this is a great one. Really nice and positive atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious bagels (made from scratch!), great local ingredients, and awesome options for breakfast and lunch. I will be back for sure!
Hello Megan - We are sorry to hear of this. We have a great staff that works very hard and takes pride in facilitating our guests orders in a courteous manner. Hello, My husband and I went to your bagel shop today with a friend visiting from out of state. We asked your employee for a veggie sandwich with capers. Your employee said so a lox supreme but veggie and I repeated it after that and said yes but without the lox. I ordered another sandwich a lox supreme normal. We had a friend with us and English is their second language and he was taking a little bit longer to review the menu because he was new to West end bagel. Your employee was extremely rude and impatient waiting for our friend to order. When people are speaking to each other in a language other than English then speaking to you in English this should not be a reason to get frustrated, this is a time to approach with patience and understanding. There was only two people behind us and another employee was helping them. I didnt understand the rush. After we got our order the employee had made two lox supreme sandwich. I know that lox is salmon and thats why I told them no lox on one of the sandwiches. I know there was a miscommunication but my husband is a lifelong vegetarian and we have never had a problem ordering a bagel sandwich this way before. Your employee went on to blame us for the error and even said there is no Veggie sandwich in your store even though it is clearly written on your board and they were incredibly rude. Sadly, we will not be returning to your restaurant because of the discomfort we felt today.
