Before Covid, you didn't need a reservation for Happy Hour on a typical weekday but on the nights of live music, we have always recommended a reservation. I understand your frustration and it was very apparent you were upset when you were here this week. Unfortunately you walked away before giving me the opportunity to finish my sentence and explain more. We are making hard decisions right now and I appreciate you sending me an email and posting a review addressing this one. We turned over 30 people away on the day of your visit for the same reason. I am sorry we had to turn you and your date away and I acknowledge we lost your future business also. We have limited staff and are doing our best to accommodate reservations first and we will accommodate walk-ins if our staff has the capacity to do so and still give good service to their guests at the moment. When you arrived, each server had recently been given 3-5 new tables on top of the 5-7 tables they were already serving and we still had half of our reservations on their way. As you stated our outside patio was full and it was not an option to accommodate walk-ins at that point. The servers were already at their maximum serving capacity and because we focus on quality of service I could not add a walk-in to any of them or I would have done so. Right now, our servers are also bartending because we aren't fully staffed, so yes, we honestly didn't have a bartender to make you and your date a drink. Its insane that we are turning away guests and we HATE doing it. We know the bad taste it leaves so we promote making reservations on our website, OpenTable and our social media platforms so guests are aware. Reata is a great place for a cocktail and they are also working through Covid and a complicated parking situation as best as they can. Restaurants across our country are handling the recovery process as they are able. Reata's staff size is not comparable to ours - we literally have a team of up to 6 each night and typically a restaurant our size would have 8 - 10 per shift.

Apparently, you have to have reservations for happy hour if you just want to stop by and have a drink. There were plenty of tables inside but got turned away by the manager because there was no bartender. Yeah, right, the outside area was completely full, wondering how those people got served drinks? My wife and I wanted to have one drink but apparently this was an overwhelming request. Luckily, Reatas roof top never disappoints. Will never go back to this place again. Reata has a friendly wait staff and doesnt require reservations to have a cocktail.
We are glad you enjoyed our service and the view! Come try out Happy Hour or our Wine on the Skyline Event (half price bottles of wine selections)- we have great specials!
