I have a initialed and Signed Document by YOU, that you Completely Understood what the Diagnostic Fee was for and that it would be applied towards the Repair that needed to be done to fix it, which you told me you couldnt afford to have it fixed. This Document is a requirement for all clients to initial and Sign before we can start any repairs. I am so sorry that you are not a Professional and couldnt fix it yourself, it couldve saved you $25.

Wasted $25 on diagnostic fee to get my developmentally disabled sister's PC fixed after ransomware was put on it by a hacker. I could have fixed the PC myself if I had come to Mesa from the East Coast with my own PC, cd roms and/ or USBs. So I'm not a newbie when it comes to PCs. Sparky tried to pull the wool over my eyes and, when I caught him at it, he backpedaled saying, "No, forget I said that. What we did was this...". Then when I caught him in a lie there, he backpedaled again. I decided the only thing he might be capable of doing is formatting the HDD and re-installing Windows. When I asked him to do that, he quoted me a price that did not take into account the diagnostic fee I had already paid - this is contrary to what he had told me the previous day. Classic bait and switch. He claimed to have done a number of bios and OS changes to the PC but, when I told him I was done with him and coming to pick up the PC in just a few minutes, he assured me the PC was just I had left it - software and all. So glad I did not have him touch it any further. I brought it to ABC Computers Plus, just down the road in Tempe. Their attitude, professionalism, and skills were exactly the opposite of Sparky's. Look, if you don't know much about PCs, you can take it to Sparky and you'll never know the difference whether he hoodwinked you or not. So go for it. But if you do know a bit about PCs, save yourself some aggravation and time and take it elsewhere. I have read Sparky's response to my review. It's another lie. Not surprised. Exactly what it was like dealing with him.

I am sorry that we couldnt make you happy, and yes the diagnosis fee is removed from the repair which is on the paperwork I had you sign. Also, I have all the documented proof and pictures of the tablet being worked on and tested. You dropped off the tablet yesterday afternoon and expected it to be repaired within 24 hours and when I told you that there were repairs ahead of you, you decided to come and pick it up. Its a general practice within repair shops to charge a diagnosis fee upfront, to keep people from leaving dead electronics and not paying for the service done. Again, I am sorry that we couldnt please you, as you were asking us to drop everything and work on just your specific repair, thats not fair to all the other individuals who dropped off the repairs before you. Recovering Computers by Sparky is a well-known shop and has thousands off clients that repeatedly come back for the Exceptional and Honest Service that we provide.

After looking at the google reviews, I thought this business was reputable and trustworthy. I initially brought in my Samsung tablet for a diagnosis(wasn't powering on) I should've seen this as a red flag on paying the $35 DOLLARS UPFRONT but I was naive. After a couple days we called him and he said the problem could be a number of things. Either the motherboard and/or the charging port and/or the battery. He TOLD US THE BATTERY WAS DEAD (he said he tested via volt meter). On top of that, he said to write the estimate for the repair would be $65. This is dubious practice of prepaying $35 for the diagnosis and charging more for a written estimate. When I confronted him, he said "I have other computer repairs that are worth 5 times more than your tablet" This basically told me he was just trying to run with the money. He said a ball park estimate to fix it was $200!!!!! After picking up our tablet, we trouble shooted it with a friend and found out the BATTERY WAS PERFECTLY FINE (volt meter). Come to find out it was a simple loose connection that we fixed. When we opened it up there seemed to be no evidence of it being open. We believe he lied to us and actually didn't do more than trying to charge it with a cable. *In response to the owner, that is a blatant lie that we dropped off the tablet 24 hours ago, according to the debit card statement we were charged on the 15!!! We have disputed the transaction with the bank.
