Edit: Max Brenners is average at best. It feels like its trying to upsell itself as a luxurious experience but in reality it just feels cheap. I will say though that to this day their italian thick hot chocolate has made a lasting impression on me. I am genuinely just drinking chocolate. I have been to Max Brenners 6 or 7 times in the past, and was always awed. Part of the initial attraction may very well have been due to its prime location in union square, with the overall environment adding to the experience. I will say that this is a place where you can derive adequate food (just barely), but the dessert is what I believe most people go for. After the instagramability wears off, what is left? Either really quite decadent chocolate inspired treats or for the more discerning type, grotesquely sugary and overpriced sweets. I am both of these people but today, I had my friends milkshakes and they were pleasant.

Didn't particularly like the seating arrangement the tables were too small for all the food we were served and they were extremely close to other people in the restaurant. Close enough to the point where my partner and I were having a conversation and the lady next to us jumped in like she was having lunch with us. The pizza we got was not very good lacked flavor and was cold. The burger was delicious but like 5 waffle fries. They could have definitely put more fries on the tray. We had the fondue tray for desert the chocolate cake was super dry, strawberries were sour, and bananas were mushy not very fresh at all. Staff was okay no one really cared to make the experience an enjoyable just another day on the job for them. The bathrooms were nice and clean.

This place is a gem. Its not just a chocolate store. The burgers, waffle fries, and chicken tenders were fantastic!! The old man had a strawberry shake, he says FIVE STARS and he loves the glass Ask for Michael, he is very informative, genuine, and knowledgeable about everything. He deserves a raise!! Thank you!!

Do not recommend this place. They would not let me have a bigger table when I told them I wasnt comfortable on a small table. They were not busy and had plenty of larger tables. Guess they rather lose business than accomodate customers, because we walked out.
