These guys are awful. Seriously bad. They run their rental units like slum lords, refuse to help on very basic issues, and are completely dismissive of their tenants. David Leiter himself is terrible at managing these properties, and the people he hires give a good effort, but constantly complain to the tenants in private about how awful it is to work there. It makes sense, I dealt with 3-4 property managers in my time living in one of their buildings. I left about 4 months ago from one of their buildings in Brooklyn and we experienced so many issues it's hard to remember them all: Ceilings caving in. Common areas being left open to the public. Common areas that were utterly disgusting. No heat in the dead of winter for WEEKS at a time No hot water in the winter for weeks at a time as well. It also goes out periodically throughout the year. This was all over the past three years. Before I wrote this, I talked to my neighbor who lived above me, and he says it's gotten worse. They've gone 15 days without heat or hot water this winter already according to him. David never responds to these complaints. He just hikes up the rent because the building is in a good neighborhood (main reason I left) and ignores the tenants. Do NOT ever rent an apartment from these guys. The moment something goes wrong, you'll be on your own.

Nice people that work there, but if you have a new building I recommend avoiding them. They are clueless with how to deal with the sponsors.

Highly recommended! Leiter helped me to manage my Williamsburg small residential building and its tenants from 2014 to 2016. I appreciated Leiters connections to the Williamsburg neighborhood and their family-style approachability balanced with a more business-like effectiveness. Thanks to the hard-working team of David Leiter, Maria Kontis, Wendy Webb, and Reynaldo Diaz, my property was kept running smoothly and hassle-free while I was away at work or out of town. They were always available to help me with any big or small matter.

Our property manager (Frankie) is a true all-star: responsive, friendly, invested, and INCREDIBLY hard working. After terrible experiences with several other companies, I can't say enough about how appreciative I've been to have Frankie manage our building. Leiter is a small company, and there were times when I wished they had more back-office staff, a larger team to help manage complicated repairs, or other members of their team that were as invested as Frankie, but they're very affordable and a great value for what they charge. Without question the best company I found for a small building with a limited budget. I'd work with them again in a heartbeat.

We appreciate feedback and if we are wrong about something we will correct it. All Board members have my personal cell phone number if they ever had an issue. Unfortunately we aren't always able to continue with a building due to conflicts that may not be resolvable. In this case, Mr. Barber did not mention in his review that we resigned from this building because of his constant accusations and they did not fire us as is implied here. I personally had a conversation with the other board members and said if we received another list of 30 transactions, that he demanded an explanation for, from 1 year in the past, we simply couldn't dedicate the time and resources to answer this obsession. All of the Board members except Mr Barber were in agreement that this he was out of line. We disproved all accusations and also showed them in the case of a the duplicate check they actually owed more money to the contractor (who was someone the board picked before our time as manager). Chris had also advised the vendors not to speak directly to the manager of the building during building projects which was disruptive. The Board members are all very nice people and agreed with me the situation with Mr. Barber was difficult to deal with. Unfortunately after a quiet period of several months, another list of accusations came at us and we resigned. Management is a very difficult business and time consuming. We spent a dozen hours answering his first list of accusations and could not do this again. It seems like a hopeless situation so we resigned. We also spoke to other Board members who may offer a response to this review as well as we had requests from the other Board members at that time not to resign and to reconsider. David Leiter

We hired Leiter as our co-op's managing agent six months ago, and in that time they have helped us get a wide range of issues under control. They are prompt, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. They bring expertise in finance and construction, and relationship skills in working with our community. It no longer feels like we have to be experts in everything, they are the experts. Update - turns out they were helpful for about a year. Then we found a number of accounting errors including bills paid twice. We also found they were having the same contractors work again and again on projects, without getting enough bids or reviewing their work for effectiveness. When we brought these issues to their attention the relationship turned acrimonious. I would avoid them.
