TL;DR: I did not feel comfortable in this space as a trans* person. Despite the amount of incompetent care that I have received, this was one of my most uncomfortable experience in a doctor's office to date. I came in to talk about changed my PCP to central outreach. I was forced to identify my sex. When I told the staff person that I don't use "sex-assigned at birth" terminology they rolled their eyes and laughed in my face. They then demanded to know so that they could ask me if I had ever had a pap smear. Just ask me that? They then told me they were going to take rectal swab without any explanation. At that point there was no way any part of my clothing was coming off around that person. I am wary of leaving a 1-star review only because I appreciate the fact that an LGBTQIA+-focused healthcare provider exists in Pittsburgh. I didn't find the care to be competent, though, and I'm not sure if I appreciate the fact that they don't provide equal services to all people.
If there was a negative 0 that would be it for this place, I had a doctor talk to me about getting on hormones specifically Dr. McGowan and one of the nurses named Julie with it being halfway through my transition knowing the damage it could cause told me she was not going to go any further over rumors I couldnt say enough about this office I hope it gets shut down and honestly, more negative reviews so nobody goes here and gets treated the same way.
I absolutely positively LOVE the staff at Central Outreach. I've never had a problem getting an appointment.. I live in Johnstown and have been going here for almost two years and I don't even care that it's a drive. The staff have great bedside manner and I recommend Central Outreach to all my Friends!!!! ,
Dr. Stacy Lane has been my doctor since 2004. When a diagnosis wrecks your life, you feel that there is no hope and nowhere to turn Then you meet this amazing woman. She was my first doctor and she wound up leaving the hospital that I was at. I stayed another 10 years with said Hospital only to nearly die in their care. I went back to Stacy several years ago and I've never been happier She is without a doubt not only a Class Act but eternally and kindly giving of not only her expertise in medicine and the care for people with HIV but her compassion, her work ethic, and her understanding of paying it forward thank you Stacy thank you Doctor Lane you are an it girl Xo
Ive been going here for many years; never had any complaints- even referred ppl here. NEVER. AGAIN. not only do they occasionally forget your preferred name; pronouns; etc- they are the most judgmental group of born again tweakers who are not only under qualified; under the influence and never under scrutiny. And the front desk mole is the worst. dont go to Sharon; do not pass go . Walk directly to the kiosk. Or better yet out the door; you would be better off.
