We are very fortunate to have some of the best Third-Party State Testers in the State of Colorado test out of our facility. For your information, there are many things a Tester MUST accomplish BEFORE he or she can begin the test: verification of all driver documentation (driver's license, DOT medical card and the driver's commercial learner's permit), verification of vehicle registration and license, verification of VIN, GVWR, length of the vehicle and trailer, verification of type and class of the vehicle. For those of you who are unaware, the CDL test has to start on time according to State law, in this case, 7:30 am. The test actually starts when the Tester begins to read all of the test instructions for the pre-trip portion of the test. When the Tester was approached by this driver at 7:40 am, the tester deemed that the driver was late checking in and there was no time to administer the necessary and required driver / vehicle verification's, so the Tester informed the driver of the importance of checking in on time so that all of these necessary items could be completed in a timely manner and then the Tester cancelled the test according to State law. Our CDL Safety School testers perform hundreds of CDL tests every year and we are audited on a regular basis, just like all of the other schools in this state. We have never failed an audit and none of our testers have ever been suspended or disciplined. We pride ourselves in giving every single testee a fair CDL test performed according to the testing guidelines of the State of Colorado. Our testers and the State CDL Compliance Unit do an awesome job of making sure that all CDL tests are conducted in a fair, consistent, efficient and timely manner. If you want a great testing experience, please come to our school - you can register for the CDL test at www.A1CDLTesting.com.

We came from Texas to do the road test. We made an appointment a week ago. When we arrived to testing location at 6.30am (1 hour before an appointment). The road course was covered in snow and at 7.00am they started cleaning the snow. As they were cleaning the snow, I came up to them and asked them about my appointment. They told me that I missed my appointment, even though I was sitting in the truck In front of office for the whole time, waiting on them to clean the snow from the yard. I wouldn't reccomend this school
Colton, you are a good guy - you just were not safe to drive a full-size semi-truck and take the test - and you admitted it. We have you at 94 hours total - had you finished the course and took the test, you would have been over the 100 hours and over 500 miles behind the wheel. We reimbursed your company for the hours that you were short of the 100 hours total. We also presented your company with a plan to pay for another 20 hours of training at $37.50/hr for a total of $750 - this is a steal. I will forward you the correspondence so that you can get your facts straight - just call me. Please do not spread lies about our school - this is called defamation. Here's a direct quote from the email I wrote your boss: "Our only goal at this school is to produce a safe driver. There is nothing else that we are trying to accomplish. To prove to you that both I and this school has integrity and believe that we did the best in Coltons case, I will donate 10 of those 20 hours. If you want to pay for the additional 10 hours of training at $75/hour (our standard training rate using our equipment), then we may have a deal. I still need to know if I am going to get Coltons A-game for the rest of his training here. This school has a very good reputation for putting out quality graduates who have been trained to operate a CMV both safely and legally."

Tommy is a great truck driver. Teacher, not so much. He honestly cares more about keeping his streak of perfect passes then he does teaching and having you learn to be a good truck driver. If you're part of the younger generations and they're serious about learning how to drive truck go somewhere else. I took his corporate class for $4,500 for two weeks with the promise of 80 to 100 hours behind the wheel time. I barely made the 80 hours then he refused to let me test because he said I wasn't ready. And in all honesty I wasn't. But then you wanted to charge my company $4,000 more to get me one more week of drive time practice. Like I said Tommy is a good guy and a good truck driver, but that's kind of just jerk move.
Charlie, it was great working with you and you did such a great job! You are an awesome individual and gave it everything you had, which paid off big time when it came to the CDL Test. Great scores and 110% effort - thank you so much for your positive attitude and calm demeanor - that's what it takes if you want to be the best at what you do! Please keep us posted from time to time with your career and Happy July 4th to you and your family!

I want to thank Tommy and Valerie for being such great teachers. I highly recommend this school just for the amount of behind the wheel time it's the only way to learn. Just an awesome experience all the way around!
Sean, we are proud of you and you are certainly welcome! You came very well prepared and gave us your A-Game the entire time. As with any training, an individual gets out of it what they put into it. You were excellent to train and had such a great attitude. Your CDL Test scores were awesome and you should have a very good foundation for a lifetime of safe driving. Keep it on the black stuff between the green stuff! Also, please keep us posted with your driving career!

I came here back in March with little to no experience driving large commercial vehicles/trucks. After the hands on training I received I passed my class B CDL test, with absolutely no problem. Recently me and a co-worker took classes to get our class A CDL and it was just as great as the first time! The instructors here are top notch and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you again for everything, I could not have done it without you!
Jake, I understand that you are a bit frustrated after not passing your CDL test yesterday; however, that does not give you any license to spread false information publicly. I will address your points: 1. Our Third-Party Testing Unit is not a total racket - you appear to be very mis-informed as your supporting statements are mostly false information - the following is direct wording from the Tester Manual: - Voltmeter Gauge - Rationale: Ensures proper operating range of the charging system, warning of a problem before it occurs. Scoring Criteria: With engine running and key in the on position, checks that gauge(s) show alternator or generator is charging or warning light is off. Needle will jump and flutter, then indicate charge. - Coolant Temperature Gauge - Rationale: Gauge indicates the safe operating range of the engines temperature. Overheated engine cooling systems can result in the loss of coolant and subsequent mechanical failure. Scoring Criteria: With key on and engine running ensures the temperature gauge is operational. Temperature should begin to climb to the normal operating range or temperature light should be off. 2. Brake systems, including all the components of an air brake system (brake hose, brake chamber, push rod, slack adjuster, brake linings and brake drums), must be inspected on BOTH the steer and drive axles of the truck and one axle on the trailer - it is State law to inspect all required axles for ALL items - if you really believed what you are stating, why did you inspect ALL components of the "suspension" and "tire" components for all of the axles, as many of these items are duplicate? 3. Vehicle Lights - all lights must be working to be safe. I personally checked your trailer lights - the hazard lights, left turn light and brake lights are not functional on your trailer. This truck and trailer should have never left your yard - if you would have been pulled over by law enforcement or had an accident, you would have been cited. According to the FMCSA, all lights must be functional at all times. 4. PreTrip Manual - we gave you (FREE) our Class A NTT PreTrip Manual after you failed your test as a study help for you in preparation for your next CDL Test attempt. It has a $49.95 sticker price - so what? You didn't have to pay for it! The sticker price shows you the value - we give one out for free EVERY time a driver fails the test. If you want to pay for a manual before you take the test, you may do so. If you want to book a PreTrip Class to take before you test, we include the PreTrip Manual as part of your class fee. As far as I am aware, our PreTrip Manuals cannot be found online - they are copy-righted and only available at our school. Bottom line - All Colorado testing units and testers should be alike in terms of criteria and scoring. We did our job and I stand behind our testers - they are the some of the best in the State. You are free to go to any testing facility. Study hard and you will obtain a CDL. Safety is our top priority in all that we do! We wish you all the best!
