Great idea, good location and good food. Gives L.A. vibes which is not necessarily a bad thing but what detracts from this experience is the ambiance factor. Everybody is rushing, everybody. So much to the extent you cant enjoy your food or even hear the courses presentation. Not to mention the servers are behaving as if theyre scared of getting fired. They look nervous. They never once got a chance to display personality.
It was date nightmy boyfriend and I went to see a movie and were looking to grab dinner afterwards. Wed both heard of Dirt Candy and were excited to try them. We walked in, the woman at the front looked us up and down, we asked for a table for two, and she asked us if we were sure we could afford it. After that comment, we were baffled and decided to leave. Yes, we are two Brown-skinned individualstwo Brown-skinned individuals with masters degree and full-time jobs who can afford to eat wherever we please. We will never return to this establishment and would not recommend. Would give 0/5 if I could.
This is definitely my all time favorite restaurant in NYC. Food is always amazing and you know the dishes are well thought out from the heart. I discovered them when they were a tiny restaurant. They evolved over the years but I love their values and what this restaurant stands for and that has never changed.
