The book store is amazing, but the people who work there weren't very helpful. I talked to a guy tell him the kind of book I wanted and what he could recommended me, he told me to ask in information. The guy in information was the same. He told me that I should walk around the store and see the books. I really wanted to buy a book there. In the end I went to another book store, the employees there were very helpful and recommended me a book of my taste.
Went in to browse. Took three books to the registers. Clerk starts to ring up my purchases. Stops to explain something to the other worker. Finishes that. Just sort of stands there for a moment. Then starts up again on my purchases. Stops. Turns again and adds something else to his instructions to his co-worker. Turns back to the register. Scratches himself. I walked out. Let me explain it as someone who has worked in a convenience store, a fast-food restaurant, a book store, and waited tables: The living, breathing customer standing in front of you is your primary interaction. Giving your friend instructions is fine. But if you can't run a register AND talk at the same time, you shouldn't be behind the register in the first place. It isn't just this one clerk either. The whole place has been in decline for years. Ben McFall's death just sort of slammed the door shut on any sort of sense of bibliophile vibe in the place. Occasionally, I run into someone competent who knows how you interact with a customer, but usually, it's just sort of a Holden Caulfield "I'm just doing this until I can do something authentic because everyone's such a phony except for me" scene.
More books than you could imagine next to a public library! Totally cool place. Best to ask for help if your looking for a specific book....would take you awhile to find on your own. And they have a really cute coffee shop on the back
They didn't enforce masking or check vaccine proof at event advertised as mask and vaccine proof mandatory. Forget physical distancing.
