We now have a brilliant Dance Coordinator, Claudia de la Cruz of the top-rated Claudia de la Cruz Flamenco Institute, and she has added several dance instructors to the program. They keep canceling their ballet classes with out any valid explanation and switching teachers, i don't think the girls will learn anything this way.

Dear Lene T., we are so sorry you felt this way about your experience at OCCTAC in 2018. We would love the opportunity to serve you again in 2020, though our center is currently holding its programs and services online due to COVID-19. You can find out more about what we offer at our website https://www.occtac.org/arts-education. Some of the the information you received was incorrect. As a non-profit, our financials are tightly regulated and monitored through multiple audits and reports throughout the year. It would be very difficult to misappropriate funds from any grants or programs, nor would we do that because it goes against our values and ethics. Our volunteers are thoroughly screened and required to have a TB test and background check on file before they can start working at our center, as are all employees. As to the organization of our traffic, when OCCTAC is fully operational and not under COVID-19 restrictions, it is a busy place! There is much activity, but our instructors and front desk staff do an excellent job of checking children in/out of the center, and we now have parents wait in the lobby for their children so that there is no confusion as to who "belongs" at the center or not. We take the safety and well-being of our students, families and staff very seriously, and we work hard to make the center a safe and accessible place in our community. At one point I volunteered time to this center, let me just say that from what I observed and learned regarding operations I wouldn't be surprise if they lost a child from their center, someone got injured due to employee negligence or even if they were charged with fraud because they don't use moneys they get from grants and other places within the set guidelines and rules. (I got this information from a employee who was battling whether to report this fraud or not.) They are unorganized and let so many things fall thru the cracks. Your children are not safe here because (1) they have no control who comes in and out of the entire center, including the class areas and all the way in the back; (2) teachers let kids out of the class just like that without needing a parent to physically get them from the class area; (3) front desk doesn't keep a lookout to make sure children don't leave the building unaccompanied because generally they are so busy running around and on their phones; (4) they don't properly screen volunteers to make sure they can be around children (they don't do vaccine/TB check or a background check)... I could go on. There are dedicated people here but the leadership is poor starting at the top with the founder.
