READ FIRST! They dont stand behind their products. Quality control on their kayaks is pretty subpar and warranty is no help. Bought a brand new kayak and when I took delivery the entire top was covered in pitting. Some of them are quite deep and look like something has bitten a chunk out of it. The kayak is obviously thinner in the hundreds of pits on the surface, but according to the warranty department, they are merely cosmetic and offered me $100 credit to their store (which hardly carries anything and is terrible to navigate). Seriously consider another brand that has a reputation for backing their product.
When my wife and I moved to Sparta about two years ago, I was told they were one of the biggest employers in Sparta. I worked in manufacturing for close to 25 years. 1st time working for a company that literally had no daily goals posted. People just kind of show up and 'do their best'. I can count the time on one hand how many times I actually saw my supervisor. Pros: i met some nice people while there and got some descent discounts on two boats.
Bought the Mayfly about a month ago and have had it on the water multiple times. This thing is amazing! It's rock solid stable and the deck layout is wonderful. I can fish comfortably all day and it's a breeze to paddle. Lots of storage and easy to customize for specific needs. I've been on my local lake with bass boats buzzing by and never felt like I was gonna be tossed by the wake even while standing.
Bought 2 new Jackson Bite Kayaks and on 1st float trip out both seats broke. The clips holding the seats snapped on both kayaks in the same place leaving me laying flat on my back 2 hours into an 8 hour float trip. 1st time on the water for both kayaks so this is a manufacturing flaw. After a pulled back and a 4 hour round trip I got the seat clips replaced with the exact same clips and was told Jackson doesn't have a fix yet but are working on one don't know how long it will be. Guess I will just have to wait and see if these clips break again and take my chance no one gets hurt. Poor quality on seats that are supposed to be some of the best on a $829 Kayak. Dealer was helpful but their hands are tied until Jackson fixes this flaw. Expected better quality highly disappointed.
