2 years ago, FACTS swept our chimney, and quoted $700 for discretionary work to get our chimney operating perfectly, but they said it was basically fine. This year, staff had changed. We'd booked a clean, and Jeff came out, without a helper, which made me suspicious from the start. He took a desultory look up the chimney from the inside, then gave us a long diatribe about "Class 3 creosote" and "carcinogens". He told us he wouldn't even recommend burning a candle in our fireplace in its current condition, that our house was likely to burn down, and that it needed completely re-lining at a cost of about $8,000. He also said the chimney was not high enough (to be fair, that piece was correct). Basically he came up with a bunch of scary-sounding nonsense, that luckily we did not fall for. When I said there was no way we were going to do the work, he said "aw... no payday for Jeff". He charged us $129 for the privilege of trying to fleece us, left us with an un-swept chimney, and left the damper off of its spindle, which I had to re-seat after he left (lucky I checked or we'd have been losing heat up there all winter). We've since had another licensed firm out to look at our chimney, they said there was nothing wrong apart from the height, and the fact that it needed a clean, which is what we'd tried to get done in the first place. The whole experience left us with a very bad taste in our mouths.

I swear i have a sign on my forehead that says "yes please take advantage of me because I am so nice". DO NOT use FACTS chimney service nor buy a groupon from them. Came here for a cleaning that i paid for on groupon, and said he couldnt get the broom up the chimney because it was blocked and that he needed to stick his camera (his phone in a case on a messanger call to my phone) to see what it was.. There was no blockage he was intentionally hitting the lip of the chimney.. He was able to stick the camera with no blockage at all, all the way to my roof. He said that my fireplace was unusable and needs a 10,000 lining and there was no reason for him to continue cleaning... He didnt clean my chimney nor clean it or inspect it from the roof because he has 20/20 vision and can see the damage from the ground. Instead he informed me that it was going to cost me an extra 99 dollars because he stuck his phone up my chimney on a stick. The police came and tho they agreed with me but because i verbally agreed to him sticking the phone up my chimney i would go to jail if i did not pay the 100. #peoplesuck

I googled a fireplace technician, many showed up in the ad, I didnt know who is who. Well the best choice was my first choice. I really dont know why this one stood out from the rest. I am truly happy that I picked Jeff. He is really a great and dedicated individual. He is very funny and friendly. I recommend this guy to anyone that needs this kind of service. Thank You, Jeff

Moved into a place with a HeatnGlo fireplace that hadn't been used in 14 years. Thought I was doing it correctly, but could not light the pilot. On the phone I received step by step walk through and spotted my mistake. Pilot lit instantly on first try. Made my day.

I dont like to do this unless its warranted but it is. Awful service. Not only did he do next to nothing but he also wasted my time with his relentless talking and trying to sell me everything under the sun. Dont use this guy unless you want to toss money out the window like I did. I actually have a new guy over doing the work he didnt do. Unfortunately Google wont allow a zero star review. Hed get it for sure.
