I'm going to write a rather lengthy review because I feel like the situation calls for it. I'll start by saying that I run a golf league in Cleveland and this will be our third season. I've been in charge of organizing around 10-12 tournaments a season at courses all over Northeast Ohio. Never have I once wrote a negative review for any of the courses we've played. This is mainly due to the fact that pretty much every course we've had tournaments at have been extremely helpful to work with and great ambassadors to the game of golf. On May 21, 2022 our chapter had a tournament scheduled at Boulder Creek Golf Club. Leading up to the event, I had coordinated with the course and informed them of our signups throughout the process. The course also asked that I prepay for all of our golfers ahead of time, which I had already offered to do. I received numerous calls from workers telling me I needed to prepay and that, "people don't realize a golf course is a business". Overall it was just a general attitude of, "you're lucky to play here" and not "we're thankful to have you". Due to the higher cost of the round compared to other courses in the area, we did not get our normal turnout of 70-80 golfers, but I had informed the course a few weeks before the event that our numbers were going to be closer to 60 golfers. We ended up having around 56 registered golfers. The week leading up to the events, two of our golfers tested positive for Covid and informed me that they could not attend. As soon as I received this news I relayed it to the course. At this time, the course told me that it wouldn't be a problem to get a refund. Now at this time I had already prepaid for all of our golfers, so I just needed a refund of $142 for those two golfers who already prepaid and couldn't attend due to Covid. Prior to the round, I asked the individual I had spoke with regarding the refund if he could refund the card to which I was told no, but I could call Monday and have the owner cut a check for those two golfers. I asked again after the round just to make sure we were all on the same page and was told the same story. Fast forward to the event and the overall experience. The course did nothing to help organize our event. They did not offer to print score cards for our pairings (which I provided), they did not offer to put pairings names on the carts, they did not even have score cards on the carts. Also, our chapter sponsor had gone out of their way to drop off multiple cases of beer to the course ahead of time so that the course could sell our sponsored, local microbrew during the round. However, when we got there in the morning all of the beer was sitting on the floor of the clubhouse, warm. The individual working asked, "what are we supposed to do with this", so I figured I would say put them in a fridge so we can spend money to buy them at your course! Post round: I sent out an email to my contacts at the course regarding the refund and recapped the conversation I had at the course. No reply. I called the course numerous time that same week and left messages. No reply. Finally, today (May 31) I receive back an email saying, "I spoke with Joe and he said since you had signed the contract agreeing to the amount of players you were going to bring, we are unable to offer you a refund for the 2 players that could not make it. Bill said he told you he would see what we can do but never agreed to a refund." So, to recap, we brought 54 golfers to the course, notified them ahead of time that two golfers couldn't attend due to Covid and was told a refund would be issued. After continuously tracking someone down I was told the owner Jim would not honor the refund. All of this was just the story of poor service. Now let's address the course condition. For $71 and being told numerous times that Boulder Creek was the #2 public golf course in the state (yeah, in 2010), the course was not in great shape. The roughs were overgrown, the course had grass clippings everywhere, the roughs were hard as a rock, the tee boxes were poorly maintained.
