Buildfire is a nice tool to make an android APP online and i was impressed at first how easy it is to make one there. Lesser impressed i was when you want to publish it and it needs a subscription that is one of the most expensive ones i saw compared to others. But what worries me the most is this policy on their website. Can I cancel anytime? Yes. Our subscriptions are based on either monthly or, if you want a sweet discount, annual terms. Please note, however, if you cancel your service, your app will no longer function and will be removed from the App Store and Google Play per our terms. So if you want to make a simple app then you are stuck with them till the day you die needing to pay $53 (basic) or $474 (Enterprise) per month because they are the ones that publish your app and use this rule so you cannot cancel your subscription or lose all the APP's you created. What if you are a developer and you made 1000 apps for various clients who paid you cash and then a sudden death means that all APP's paid for by your clients are offline, how sweet that is. So would i recommend Buildfire, no because you cannot download the APP and upload it yourself to the Google play store, it feels like a blackmail system to me and this is not how all other companies do it. Secondly the risk for clients is too high to buy an APP from a developer since all can be gone if the developer is gone, just imagine the financial claims that come after.
I've been with Buidfire for bout 3 years now, and the platform is awesome. Don't expect to be able to create a fully customized app (their developers can do that for you, but native app development is expensive), but for a small business or MVP it works great. They are normal people and the response time isn't instant (if you want instant, you can purchase their enterprise account), but they always get back to me within a business day and I understand that and just relay this to my clients so our expectations will be n the same page. The platform stays updated and they are constantly pushing out new plugins.
