I hate to write a bad review about this company because for first half of our move they were awesome. The problem was on the back end. Several things happened: no return calls or emails from original person we were working with, changed pricing, false information on customs, handed off to a "customs agent" who asked us to deposit cash into his account with no receipt or any paper work in order to get our stuff , and our OLED TV....completely crushed in. I have followed up through email and phone and am getting no response. These folks packed all our stuff in our house with their "guaranteed proper packing" and delivered it. When I asked about additional insurance I was told "well we are packing it so it will be safe". I told them to add the insurance regardless. Come to find out when my stuff was being transferred into Mexico the insurance was only an all loss policy. So when I had my stuff delivered and our 65" OLED TV was completely crushed in I called them to see if they would work something out. I received one email back saying they would check into it and that is it. I am convinced this TV was damaged in the process of moving my stuff from UT to CA and they tried to cover it up with the change of insurance once going through customs. These folks need to be held accountable. My move after it was all said and done (after depositing cash into some random account to get my stuff through customs) cost us over $14,000 and that was after a $8,000 quote. Our TV was valued at $4200 and completely destroyed. This is just beyond me how they can pack up our stuff under their assurance, destroy it, and just wash their hands of it. There has to be something I can do.... I just haven't been able to figure out what. Be careful with this company. They are great and getting your deposit and starting the move but after that it's all downhill.

Lost or Stolen We had our household sent from SF to NZ. Customer serve was great however when we unpacked our possessions many high value items were missing. Antique Tea cups, very high end kitchenware, crystalware. The box count matched at both ends (only 38 boxes) however things were missing. SDC said the shippers had repacked some items, however lots of high value things went missing....when I reached out to the representative, Emily Potter of SDC she said she had contacted SDC's subcontractors and they item could not be found. I guess there is a loss of accountability when so many party's are involved. I'm guessing we lost about $2000 of goods, without a trace. Many of these items are not replaceable (inherited) so no amount of insurance would have helped. I would definitely recommend NOT using SDC as there appears to be little or no accountability and I now do not feel they are trustworthy. Unfortunately, for both SDC and US, the moment of truth is when you unpack everything at which point there is no comeback.

Loved working with Amory! There is a bit of a learning curve when moving internationally and SDC walks you through the entire experience. It won't make it entirely stress free, but our stuff arrived in perfect condition, not a crack, dent, or scrap. Both moving teams - in the USA and Internationally - were amazing to deal with. Outside of a small initial delay in getting our belongings into a container, everything was as promised. Our total time from pack up to arrival at our home overseas was 2 months.

I had a comfortable experience with SDC. Starting from a quote they gave me to delivering my belongings. When the customs clearance was completed, they were sent to our new home. Its very convenient that they provide final destination delivery. I could say it was a good experience for my first time using the shipping service.

At the beginning everything was great, as it usually goes and then right after the moving truck left everything went downhill from there, the carelessness that this company has for one's belongings is enraging as it is saddening; all of our belongings are damaged to a certain extent and the amount of unanswered phone calls far outnumbers the ones that were actually answered. I didn't purchase the insurance that only covers total loss because I deemed it worthless, as they wouldn't cover partial loss, which is what most likely occurs with this type of shipments, but what I received is shows you what kind of company this is, the change the pricing and you won't get your stuff until you pay the ransom, as there is no other way to describe what that is, I really hope that no one else has to go thru what I'm going thru right now. I wouldn't use them again & I really wish I hadn't use them in the first place.The worst part us that at the end of the day they don't care at all that all of the stuff you took so much care in selecting, carefully and painstakingly packing is completely destroyed and most of it beyond repair, while paying thousands of dollars.
