Heidi, I certainly understand your frustration, especially now when costs are literally soaring through the roof! I can also understand that you perceived our questions about your investment level to be too blunt. As if to say, your project isnt good enough for us. I would like to dispel that misconception, not only for you, but for all homeowners attempting to navigate the remodeling waters during these difficult times. When, as a courtesy, we asked about your investment level or budget it was to help you understand if your expectations of what you must spend match what it actually takes today to do the work. Tania, who you first talked to, told you what the realistic range was before matching your project with one of our experts. You said nothing at that time that seemed those budget ranges were an issue, so we arranged for a second phone conversation with our design/build consultant. What you had set aside for a kitchen redo would have been a pretty good match 5 years ago. Its double that now. Thats not our doing either. Remodeling costs have been on the rise at a 4-7% clip for the last 10 years. Recent inflation has only added fuel to that fire. Heidi, we truly are sorry if you felt this approach was too forward or assumptive, but we are trying to be helpful by wanting you to know the real costs about what youre contemplating to do before you commit. We truly do understand your frustration over the high cost of, well, everything right now. Be that as it may, assigning a greed motive to our attempt at having a realistic and candid conversation about costs isnt really accurate nor fair. We do hope that you find what you are looking for and wish you the best in finding a solution for your projects.

I wanted a bid on a kitchen remodel. The designer wanted to do an initial call to "find out out how much money I wanted to invest in my home". Basically, if you don't want to spend $50,000, don't bother calling them. What he didn't know, or bother to ask, is that I have other projects as well, that would add up to a lot more than $50,000. He literally told me that I needed to "find a guy with a truck" to do my work. I am sure their work is very good, but their designer sounded very greedy with no public relations skills.
