The refill prices are a SCAM! Very poor and untrustworthy business practice. My first experience here was positive, and so I came back for more candy only to be disappointed by false advertising. The first time I came here, I was happy to purchase a $5 jar not knowing if I'll like the candy (in risk of stale taste). However, the chocolate espressos were delicious and both the sign and the employee reassured me that the next time I come back, the refill would only be $2.50. I came back yesterday with my friends to refill. The first thing I did was ask an employee if I needed a sticker to prove I already purchased a jar. I took out my used jar from last time, showed it to her, and she clearly told me it was fine for me to just tell the cash register for refill price. I then proceeded to fill that glass. And as happy as I was with coming back, I decided to get a new jar and fill that one too to support this candy store. The sign even still labeled Refill: 2.50 and a new jar+candy as $5.00. When I checked out at the register, I was charged $10 when I clearly told them I already BOUGHT the jar from a previous visit and asked in the BEGINNING of my visit if I could get the $2.50 refill. The total price should have been the $5 new jar + $2.50 = $7.50. However, NOW they tell me the promotion was over? Excuse me, I asked both on my first visit, and also the DAY OF, with my friends as witness. In fact, on my first visit, the reason why I bought the jar in the first place was because an EMPLOYEE introduced it to me, and I even asked if the promotion was an ongoing thing or temporary. I was LIED to that the promotion was going to be the same each time I come in. Seeing I already wasted my time filling up the jars, I wasn't going to cancel the transaction, so I thought if I'm going to have to pay the FULL price for the jar, I deserve to get a new jar because I already PAID for the jar filled. Then the employee tried to get away with charging $12.50 for the additional jar? That was absolutely THIEVING to charge extra because I already PAID for that jar. My friends and I had to spend another 10 minutes explaining common sense that I should NOT have to pay extra because I already bought the filled jar. If you are going to CHARGE me full price for a "new jar" when I have an old one, then its fair game for me to get a whole NEW jar, not get recharged full price for a jar I already purchased. When another employee finally understood our explanation, then she charged me $10. Overall, my friends and I have agreed to not come back to such unfair business. For there to be a sign up front, employees advertising the first time I came that I'd be guaranteed a cheaper refill, in fact even on the DAY OF that I'd get refill price, but to "make new rules" on spot at the register was absolutely distasteful. Seeing the employee was easily able to add $2.50 in addition to the $10 meant that they could've upheld their initial PROMISE of $2.50 refill, but chose not to was POOR service. Quite shortsighted to earn $10 now, but lose 6 returning customers. I'm not surprised that on Yelp reviews, multiple customers ran into the same "switch and bait" deception.
