The festival has been split into 2 parts as we unwind from Covid shutdowns; one this week and the other next week. I previously attended in 2019. Im disappointed with the event because its such a limited amount of vendors; the 2 hour time limit is more than enough to see everything and tour the Indian Museum. Ill be there next week because I already purchased tickets; hopefully this will be over in 2022, wouldnt attend again under this format.
Horrible experience with parking for the event. Couldnt attend because of no available parking. I went to the shuttle pick up as directed. It was full and I would have to wait until someone left to get a spot and there were people in front of me. The attendant said there was no guarantee that I would get in in my scheduled window so I left and tried Uber which had no available drivers. It was already 35 minutes in to my time so I gave up on trying to get there.
Weve been to IFAM for many years prior to 2021. The deadly Covid pandemic has caused many changes to how we live and do things in America and the rest of the world. Given that, the 2021 International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe was a well thought out, well organized, safe, and spectacular success for the artists and visitors who could get to Santa Fe. We look forward to visiting, volunteering, participating, and financially supporting IFAM and the artists from around the world in 2022 and beyond. Where else can you see such creativity, meet people from around the world, make new friends, have so much fun, and maybe buy something beautiful in such a spectacular setting?
The bus system was excellent. Not too long a wait to get on. The payment lines were horrible! I got in the cash line with about four people in front of me and I still had to wait 25 minutes to pay. If it is cash or check what could possibly take so long. I watched a man in front of me wait at the table for 15 minutes just to get checked out. That is not even mentioning the lines to pay with a credit card, which looked about an hour long. That is an hour that could have been spent shopping and hurts the artists. The offer of express pay was not stated clearly when you buy tickets. I and others around me thought it was about a fast way to buy tickets. The market was just beautiful and fun as usual. I hope the payment problems can be improved in the future. Lucie and Will Brennan
