Possibly the worst room I've ever nearly stayed in and I've stayed at a place with a garden gate into the bathroom! We saw the room and left immediately not wanting to catch something nasty like a bad taste in our mouths for being ripped off. We had paid for one of the best rooms (53) at 175 a night. It was a total omnishambles. Here are the issues with the room. * Broken toothbrush holder * Chain on the sink plug is broken * Paint on the bathroom lights * Broken plaster behind the bathroom lights * Two light bulbs not working in the bathroom * Paint on the bathroom tiles * Dirt on the bathroom tiles * The world's smallest bottle of shampoo and shower gel (one of each for two guests) * Dirt on the bathroom door where people have opened and closed it * Nasty stain on the bedroom carpet * Seats that if you sit in them you are nearly on the floor because the cushions have deteriorated * Paint on the furniture * Chipped furniture * Door to room appears rotten at the base * Lock doesn't fit the door properly * Restaurant reservation made on the wrong day by staff * Foul odour in the room * One biscuit for two people They attempted to fix the lights and the shower gel but at that price I expect a better standard. The hotel is dated, needs an update, it could have been so good. I would advise leaving before staying or better still not bothering at all. Frankly, I'd rather spend a night at a Travelodge than this place. Gross!

We cancelled our stay after getting there and finding the spa closed. To be fair the service was great and it was cancelled without quibble but it was a shame.

Stayed in August 2021 in room 54 which is in the courtyard annex. Massive room, large 4 poster bed, shower and separate bath, small room for tea/coffee making facilities, really great room. Stayed 2 nights and ate at the restaurant, really good menu, excellent quality food and wine at a fair price. Staff friendly. Lots of parking. Plenty to visit nearby so well worth staying here and using it as a base if visiting the local sights. 5 stars, recommended.
