One of my friends was belaying and their mask slipped a little below their nose. A staff member rushed over and yelled at my friend for letting their mask slip off. You need two hands to belay someone so it would be impossible to adjust a mask while belaying. This staff member put my friends lives in danger by distracting the friend who was belaying and by insisting they let go of the rope to pull up their mask. The manager was extremely rude as well.
Terrible experience for myself and a friend that drove 30mins to only get denied access because we had to wait 1 hour for their $40 cash grab training session. Their "policy" says you must be belay trained in order to boulder (ridiculous). I've been climbing in California for four years at numerous gyms and that was a first for me. I'd like to thank them as well, because their denial of access allowed me to find Dyno Detroit which is a brand new, clean, no bs rock climbing gym.
Exceptionally friendly staff and a great facility overall. Ive been to a half dozen climbing gyms in my life, and this is the one I wish I could have in my backyard. They have multiple crack systems, a chimney, and even a place to dry tool. Just incredible in every way.
This gym insist you to blay certified even you wish to Bouldering only. Cash grab I would not recommend it.
