Thank you for making us aware of this, David. I'm not sure where this policy originated, but it was changed as of today. Indeed, there is no logical reason to charge a customer for OUR shipping costs. In fact, if you allow us to make good on this, we'll give you a discount on this product beyond what you'll find online. Feel free to reach out to me directly at aron [at] camerawholesalers.com Regarding the behaviors you mentioned; this is something we're actively working on improving, and we'll do whatever it takes to get it right. So thank you for your feedback, and again, I apologize for the way you were treated. Aron Camera Wholesalers

I do like to spend locally, when possible. I suppose these folks are just bone-tired of loosing sales to all the other forces out there, but you'd think they'd want to take full advantage of the fact that they have actual humans to talk with and objects to handle before purchasing - and not have to trek to the inhumane environs of NYC (imho) to do so. But the treatment I got today was strange and uninviting. One example (only one of a few) was that the phone rang as a salesman and I were talking. Mid-sentence (my sentence) he RAN to the phone 25 yards away to answer it. There were at least 2 other salespeople that I could see that may have been busy, but were were not mid-conversation with an actual customer in the store! Really? One more: When I asked how long it might take for them to receive a model they did not have in stock, the immediate and UNapologetic response, before answer my actual question, was that I would have to cover the postage. What? Really? A retailer is going to charge the customer to receive from their wholesaler something that is just a different model from what they happen to have on hand? No. Really, really no! If I'm going to pay postage AND tax, I'm taking my business on line - obviously - particularly since they showed no interest in me. I do not understand the principal of being in business and not wanting to stay in business. They're one of a dying breed of camera shops. Where there were hundreds, there are just a few. So it is strange and a little disturbing. Oh, and one more. Sorry. When I mentioned that Google Maps took me to their location where they had moved from (evidently) a couple of months ago, the apathy was palpable. He said, "Yeah, we've talked about that." Sure. Meanwhile, when I got home, I personally clicked on the option in Google Maps to "suggest an edit," and moved their location pin to the correct spot. I suppose that will take some time to verify, but it at least I did my part even if I won't patronize them any more.

I've had horrible experience here. Staff is not helpful or cheerful either. They have no product information nor do they have any information on stock they carry. They refuse to price match retailers such as b & h and best buy. Will never go here again. Unfortunately Google won't let me post this without giving them a star. I don't they deserve a single star either.

So Ive been going to camera wholesalers for a little over a year now. Ive mainly worked with Tim and Dan during that time. Both were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the products I was researching, and were ultimately the reason I bought the camera I did at Camera Wholesalers, rather than online or B&H. Theyre also photographers themselves, so they are passionate about the gear they sell, and are happy to shoot the breeze and discuss photography. Ive also used their print shop. Though Ive had a couple issues here and there with ink not being dry, or a minor scratch, Tim is always so quick to replace the damaged print at no cost. You also cant beat the fact that theyre local, compared to using an online print shop. Cant get same day prints on the Internet. All in all, Ive been very satisfied with Camera Wholesalers, and will continue to trust them with my camera and photography needs.

Do not go here if you expect them to do camera repair on site. Apparently they don't, even though their website says they do. And even though they are listed as a Nikon authorized dealer, don't expect them to send your camera to Nikon, apparently they use some independent company that takes months to compete a repair. And don't expect them to be open the hours listed on their website. They close for days without bothering to note it on their site or on their answering service. Nor do they open exactly at 10 when they are in town, 10:30 is when they actually show up, so too bad for you drive a long way to get there. You can just wait.
