I called A-Core this weekend for an estimate on a cutting a 10" core in my foundation. I was told that their base price was $150.00 and that I might expect to pay a little more for the drive if there wasn't already a driver in my area when I needed the work scheduled. The following Monday (today) I called back to schedule the cut and was subsequently transferred to the Estimator. A short-tempered man answered the phone. I could tell immediately that he was not interested in taking my call. So much for customer service... When I asked for an official quote, expecting the price to be $150+ the drive out to my neighborhood, he told me that the job would cost $375!! I explained that I had received an estimate a couple days earlier for less than half that price and asked why their price was so much higher than every other concrete cutting shop in town. He laughed and explained that if he were going to drive out here to make the cut then $375 was the price. If he were already out here then he might be able to reduce the price to $275 (the base price). A-Core, help me understand the following: 1) Why did your cranky estimator quote me an estimate 200% more than the original price? 2) If you don't want my business, why did you even answer the phone? 3) Do you seriously charge $100 to drive out to a job sight within 20 miles of your shop? 4) Do you realize your base price is $75 more than everyone else's full-priced quotes? Seriously guys, the only unique product any business offers in today's market is customer service. There are plenty of other shops in town that do what you do, the only difference is they didn't lose a customer today because their representatives refuse to treat potential customers with a modicum of respect and civility. This is two star review only because "Hate" is a strong word...
Experienced road rage from one of their trucks while I was on the way to work this week at 5:30 in the morning. While exiting Bangerter Hwy, apparently I was going too slow for their driver. They started tailgating and flashing their brights. Pretty scary. They were way too close. There were other lanes, and they could have passed me prior to the exit. Honestly wasn't going that slow, but yes I was below the speed limit. Sorry I wasn't speeding. I stayed in the right lane on the off ramp and they raced ahead of me and were able to wait at the red light longer than me. Well done! There are other reviews here about their bad driving. Doesn't send a great message about a company when your trucks are out terrorizing folks at 5:30 in the am.
Thank you for your positive review! We appreciate your business!

UPDATE- We had a representative reach out to us about our project. It seems that most of our complaints center around the salesperson we worked with, rather than the company. The company has made good on the work that was done. I would never hire this company again. Communication was AWFUL! They avoided our calls, and no showed on us twice. The first cuts they did, were really good. But they left the concrete in the hole so that when the crew finally made it back to haul away, they had to pry it out, and ruined the finished cut edge. Also one of the workers decided to smoke right next to one of the cut holes. Which normally wouldn't bother me, but I am pregnant. I didn't appreciate the smoke filling up our house.
