The life-long dream my daughter had for launching her athletic clothing line was destroyed by the unprofessionalism and unethical tactics of this company. Upfront ,everything seems great, until she signed the agreement and paid (nearly 30k for development alone). Her project manager was unorganized, untimely (never honored her word (written in emails or verbally) for timeline dates, follow up or questions and ended up getting fired by the company mid-project for her poor management of the project. We communicated several times with the owners and were promised we would be a priority and that all of the past mistakes would be made right on a conference call in December. She finally terminated the project with this company at the beginning of April, when nearly a year into the project she had no usable samples, and had been charged over and above what she originally agreed to. When the company found out she would not be using them for production, for obvious reasons, they stopped working on her samples she had paid for months prior, and prioritized clients who they could make more money off of. If you are even considering using this company, please read all of these reviews and know that the facts stated are true! Run, do not walk away from doing any type of business with this company! Pictures posted on this site are the final samples, put together with safety pins...for 30k and almost one year!

Hi Tracy, Thank you for offering your feedback. We value our customers' feedback and have taken the time to absorb this information, seeking areas of improvement, and intently listen. For most people it is hard to access the apparel industry for completely custom garments. The fragmentation, jargon, and high minimums create huge barriers. One of our goals is to offer a unique strategy to brands that most manufacturers pass on. One winning strategy we offer is super low small batch manufacturing, ethically in LA, which allows people to enter the market and test their ideas. For you we produced specialty custom underwear styled in a Trunk, a Brief, and Jockstrap. This included jacquard elastic for the waistband with your logo knitted in. Like all forms of manufacturing, increased volume results in lower per unit pricing, and conversely, very small production runs are more costly. For context, most entrepreneurs who own a brand and work full time are producing between 2k-5k units per style. In this case we cleverly found a way for you to cut and sew 90 pcs per colorway in 6 sizes for a total of 180 pcs per style. We offered a contract upfront to help explain some of the standard expectations when cutting and sewing clothing. This was listed in your contract. The fact that a roll of fabric always comes in various lengths leads us to put a fair clause that allows for a +-10% overage and underage. In this case it was +3 pcs per size which was known before we started. We just requested that you pay for what you ordered after we put a lot of work into making excellent product! We will continue to offer this agreement to anyone as the nature of cut and sew apparel manufacturing has a bit of wiggle room for damages or when we are a bit more efficient with fabric usage. Our development fees include access to the industry's top talent. We feel that fractionally hiring our team is a smart business strategy that saves brands from hiring multiple full time employees. You mentioned that you would have preferred we charge for marking and grading upfront. This is not a hidden fee it's simply another part of the fragmented process we're helping to connect for you. In the past we reserved this for clients who go into production as not everyone places a production order based on their sales strategy. We have heard your feedback and now include the fee to mark and grade the patterns from the beginning. There are other aspects of this review that we genuinely disagree with and would be happy to explain over the phone. We are a team of industry veterans taking a very tough industry that is archaic and improving upon it. We know that is sometimes hard to understand from the outside, but our goal moving forward is to improve the way we educate others about how to navigate this industry and provide a more holistic approach where all parties can empathize with one another rather than point fingers at things they don't understand. We are all people, capable of change and improvement. We are not static. We sincerely thank you for your feedback. and wish you all the success in the world.

Take every 1-star review seriously. They are all accurate reviews and not just angry people. I know because I too read the reviews and took them with a grain of salt. Here's my story. The price was steep roughly 6K for development. Other companies in the area are significantly cheaper - strike one. Indie Source claims to be transparent and honest which is fundamentally false. In development they quote you on a price but conveniently leave out the additional fees for marking and grading when you transition into the production phase. Marking/Grading is normal, the fee you didn't expect upfront isn't - strike two 1 year later pre-production samples have been approved but there's one minor error that needs to be fixed and the only good part of Indie Source - the pattern maker - fixes the issue easy peasy. I receive the pre-production invoice and it has an additional fee for the pattern fix - strike three. Indie Source doesn't actually manufacture your product they outsource it to a local factory here in LA or China which is kept under wraps - Strike four. Since my project managers had left, I got the wonderful misfortune of the COO Jesse being my project manager. He sent me a quote for production after I sent him my total budget for this project. He even said in his message to me "This is what we can do." I agreed to his proposal which was $200 more than the budget I gave him but hey no big deal. I paid the 50% deposit plus the surprise pattern change fee I mentioned earlier and was under the assumption I would just sit and wait for manufacturing to complete while I work on other aspects of bringing my product to market. Skip ahead to Nov 2020 - two years after we began this journey and I receive a final invoice for $2,300 more than I expected. That number is not the remaining balance owed on the 50% deposit I paid. I immediately let Jesse know the invoice was incorrect and not what I expected. We went through roughly 40 emails in which he claims to have made a math error and it's totally reasonable for his error to be my responsibility - strike five. My experience was on the verge of a lawsuit until I decided to focus on my goal of getting to market. I realized I had been putting up a fight to make these people behave honorably and provide a good customer experience to remedy the error that was their fault. Instead I was told I was looking for a freebie and forced to pay more than I budgeted. OH and watch out for that sneaky production service agreement where they give themselves room to make more or less product than you order so they can add a little cherry to the top of your final invoice. Yep, I got hit with an extra $900 charge for overages in addition to having to pay for Jesse's initial "math error". Should you ignore this review and my experience with this company and chose to work with these people. Please retain counsel. My attorney was vital to me in this experience. Have an attorney review every single document they send you. Make them countersign everything they make you sign. Scrutinize every single email, every single number and every single piece of print rather it be large or small print. Go into the relationship knowing from the beginning that Indie Source is NOT your ally. They are not there to support you or advocate for you or help you start up. They do not care about you or your precious start up capital in the slightest bit. Theyll play on your emotions and your love for your brand or product and bleed you as dry as possible. I have spent many months enraged and even in tears. They are not worth that. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!
