Bold Idea ignited a passion for coding and computer programming for my 4th and 6th grader. They completed their first-semester last fall, and they loved every moment of it. The volunteer mentors (professional coders) are fantastic and very committed to training these amazing, curious coders and helping them develop the act of teamwork. My son and daughter were able to develop and present their own games. I highly recommend Bold Idea to all parents. Every kid deserves this opportunity to explore. Thank you Bold Idea for this great opportunity. Chika
Incredible organization run by incredible people, who teach kids how to program! Sites all around the metroplex, it's easy to get your kids enrolled so they can get a jump start on life and learn programming skills early. I first learned how to program at 8 with Basic on an Apple ] [, and I wish I had a program like this growing up.
Bold Idea has been a great program for our middle-school-age son. We love that he has interacted with volunteer mentors who are computer coders professionally and volunteer to share their knowledge and skills with curious young people. He has enjoyed building a coding project with other kids over the course of a whole semester and then getting to present that project for an audience and see other teams' projects as well. The program has a very collaborative feel and the staff members work to keep the program plugged into the Dallas programming industry/community. Glad to be part of it!
Through Bold Idea my daughter and son are learning the coding skills they will need as university students and beyond in a low-pressure, nurturing environment. Bold Idea is moving the ball forward for young people of diverse backgrounds, helping them develop valuable knowledge to join a skilled and highly compensated labor market if they choose.
I am an educator and as a parent I am constantly talking to my kids about college and careers. My youngest daughter Sophie is going into 7th grade this year. Sophie has no clue what she wants to be when she grows up so I try to give her opportunities that explore career choices. We have participated in two sessions of bold idea and Sophie loves it. During the past two sessions Sophie learned web design and with her friends created an app during her first two sessions. Her team designed an app to help depressed people. They got to decide what type of app they wanted to make and what it did. She has for the first time expressed a possible career choice in the field of coding. We want to thank bold idea for the mentorship and wonderful program that bold idea is. Sophie has learned new skills, is learning to work as part of a team, interacts more with others and is able to give explanations of what she is learning and how it works! I recommend this program to every parent who has a child. Thanks Bold Idea!! April Butler
