Women, Beware! Dont Give This Business Your Money! Misogynistic is not a word I often use and I in fact think its bantered around too often these days, but the men at Keplers personify misogyny, particularly Brian, the owner and great grandson of the founder. Heres what happened. I walked in, and first of all, the space is *horrible*. Just a mash of fabrics in little flip books on a couple spinning kiosk things, with a huge desk stuffed in. I was greeted by someone who didnt know how to read a measurement. I didnt catch his name. He said hed get Brian. Brian was busy doing something, and I waited. He came over and gave me a limp handshake, clearly very put out that Id interrupted whatever it was hed been doing. I gave him the measurements. He declared that they were wrong; but when I explained that there was no accounting for that, as my builder had been the one who had taken the measurements, he completely changed his tune to Oh, well, lets look at this again if a *man* measured it. Then the phone rang. He left while I was in the middle of a sentence to go take the call, and then he vanished. I waited for a few minutes and he never reappeared. The first guy wandered back in, and I said that it was very rude that Brian had left to take a phone call when I was there *in person*, and then didnt return; we werent done discussing my project. The first guy became very defensive and told me Thats how we do business, gotta answer the phone. Um, really? Therere these new fangled contraptions called answering machines and voicemail, ever heard of it? I told him if that was their attitude, that was fine, I wouldnt be giving him my business, and he pretty much said good riddance . . . which was about as mature as I expected him to be at that point, and yet another great business strategy! No wonder I didnt see anyone else in there. On the way home, I went to The Whole 9 Yards on Burnside instead. I got amazing service from the ladies there who guided me through the whole thing, from showing them my measurements to selecting my cushions to picking out my swatches and taking samples home. The Whole 9 Yards has it going on! Keplers was a huge disappointment, to the point of being offensive.
My wife and I had expensive, modern dining chairs with metallic gold vinyl seating. Vinyl and cats apparently don't go together, because they slide across it, and dig their nails in to stop from falling off, causing a lot of holes and skids. We wanted to re-upholster our 6 chairs with something modern and retain the metallic look, so we visited Keplers. They had so many patterns and colors to choose from, you could spend hours if you wanted to. We found a perfect cloth fabric that had a metallic sheen on it. They were friendly and helpful, they got it done ahead of their estimated time, and the craftsmanship was top level, not a flaw on them.
