My daughter did the summer internship (2019) for iLearn program for refugee children through the iACT. She learned so much from the experience and said that the program treated the children with love and care.
This is a beautiful organization. I've been going to events for about 2 years now. I love love love the passport program where you can visit different faith traditions (Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, and more). You can learn and ask questions in a pressure-free, dialogue setting (plus, a lot times they feed you too . . yum!). I've been to two Day of Thanks, where all the faith traditions get together the weekend before Thanksgiving. Each tradition does some type of worship in their style (i.e. a dance, a prayer, a song, a march, etc). Suggestion: bring tissue . . . it's quite moving : ) Also, they do so many wonderful things for refugees and repairing housing for disadvantaged Austin residents; as well as, the red bench program where they meet to explore a topic (like maybe that month the topic was mental health or hope). Anyhoo, I have loved my time with this organization and am looking forward to the years to come : )
iACT does so much to uplift so many in our community, whether they be faith communities, refugees, low-income, or the seekers amongst us.
