I give these people a 1 because you can't leave a zero. I also found the owners to be friendly, if not a little pushy. Rather than consulting me on whether or not I wanted extra features for my picture (special glass, for example) he just tacked it on the price and then mentioned it casually while tallying the bill. And yet after I told him I didn't need it, he still tried to sell me on it. I wasn't quite turned off at that point; the dude's trying to run in a business, you know? With the discount I paid significantly less, but really? I figured this was going to be the best damn frame job I had ever seen. Upon receiving it, all I could think was "meh." It was okay, not great. The picture is actually slightly crooked. There are better shops out there I'm sure...
My wife had been a customer last year, and the service was okay. It was the co-owner of the store that had been incredibly rude to her that caused us to take our business elsewhere. We believe in supporting small, locally owned businesses and it's truly sad that I have to warn others to avoid this business at all cost. Recently, I had to drop off something for a friend's store that is adjacent to this store. The item was heavy and I was asked to do so behind the shop. I parked in a spot that was designated for Frame Gallery Customers. Note it says for customers. I asked my friend to wait in the car with the keys in case he needed to use it. I was only away for 2 minutes when the co-owner (Kohar Allen) of the store blocked my car in on purpose. I get it, she likely has had to deal with people parking there and not coming to her store. But she had no idea if I was a customer or not so her behavior was insane. My friend tried to explain to her the situation and that we leaving right away. She refuses to move her car. I also went into the store and tried to explain and reminded her we had been a customer. She said "I don't care. This is your problem now so deal with it." I actually had to call the police. She lied and said I had threatened her. Luckily my friend was there to witness the entire thing. The police told me after that they have had to deal with her and that she was a difficult, strange person. They made her move the car and informed her that her actions were illegal. They asked if I wanted to press charges but I refrained. I just wanted to leave. I feel so sorry for this sad, hateful woman. She repeated often that she didn't care. She had no initial concern of whether I was a customer or not, which the officer pointed out to her. She is clearly a bitter person, who has no concern for customers or the community. I would highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. We have loved the Framers Workshop in Brookline Village.
I'm not sure if the people leaving (Negative feedback) about the Frame Gallery in Brookline have ever even been there. I have been doing business with Michael and Kohar for over 30 years and have always found them very accommodating and very personable. The quality of work there is second to none, the creative input from both Michael and Kohar are a testament of there many years of experience and knowledge of the art world. It's unfortunate in this day and age that individuals maybe having a bad day or just feed up with life would try to damage the reputation of a long standing business and individuals that have been part of the community for over 35 years.
Offering exquisite materials and superb craft, The Frame Gallery stands out over all! The owners are passionate about their work, and gracious in sharing their expertise.
