When they check your meter they come on to your property without authorization and turn on your water. I have asked not to do this and they continue. If your water is turned off it will cause air bubbles in your pipes which is difficult to prove. When speaking to customer service they are condescending. Besides the above all other utilities work with you as far as discounts, low income or installed payments. Vallecitos has no such help.
Water bills are outrageously high compared to surrounding counties like LA, Orange County, VWD financials need to be scrutinized by city officials and the public ASAP.
Really dislike this company. We've lived in our home for nearly 18 years and have watched our bills dramatically increase over time. Last month I accidentally paid them twice on the same day. Called their customer service when I noticed both payments hit my bank account. They claimed they did not get the second payment. I confirmed with my bank that indeed they did receive both payments, providing proof. After two weeks, their accounting dept did not resolve issue claiming they only received one payment! I had to issue a dispute via my bank. what a headache! Thank goodness my bank researched the claim and approved my dispute. Otherwise, VWD would just have stolen my money! Bottom line, their accounting dept leaves much to be desired. And PS--never ever be late. They will shut off your service immediately. Wish we had other options for water in SM.
