these people are shady and dishonest. buyer beware. they are not going to tell you what the hidden history or current mechanical issues are with any of their cars, nor are they going to recommend to their clients that they be open and straightforward with potential buyers. not cool! they also don't allow you to take their vehicles to a mechanic, which is a huge red flag. MAKE SURE you do your homework. run the VIN # on the car you are considering to look for open recalls. more than worth it to invest in an inexpensive carfax report to learn the vehicle history to make sure the mileage hasn't been rolled back, that there haven't been any serious collisions, and to see the ownership history (do you really want a former rental car that's been used and abused)? there are cars on this lot that have SERIOUS issues and they just leave it up to you to discover them. you've been warned.
Buggy Bank is such a great service. The dealer offered me $2k for my 2008 Prius, but I sold it at the Buggy Bank in less than a week, for several thousands more. Jerry and staff are straightforward and low BS. They advised me on the asking price, and did the detailing on site. (Had I known they also do smogs, I would have had that done there as well.) The hardest part about selling your car yourself is coordinating all the showings. Buggy Bank handles all of that and makes it painless. As I was leaving the office, another customer told me she had bought 2 cars there and how happy she was. Both buyers and sellers value the service. Thank you, Jerry!
Absolute ZERO stars. The owner Jerry was a very dodgy guy with me through the whole process. Car lot is in a skid row part of Berkeley and it looked like only people on really LOW budgets frequent here looking for cheap junkers. Told me my 2014 Subaru WRX would sell right away. Fast forward 6 mos. later: car did NOT sell despite 2 price reductions. The fun part is when I went to pick up my car today after Jerry called me to get it off the lot. First thing I noticed was that the sticker posted in the window had the WRONG sale price and didn't reflect the current reduced price. The battery was totally DEAD because he never thought to start it up once in a while. The car was on EMPTY as well, so here I sit at a gas station in Berkeley waiting for a jump start from AAA! $550 TOTALLY wasted plus the aggravation of having to deal with weirdo Jerry letting my car just sit there. I would NEVER use Buggy Bank again and I do NOT recommend it. You're much better off selling at Wheels and Deals in Santa Clara where buyers actually have some cash or biting the bullet and letting it go for cheap at Carmax. Don't sell here!
