Julia - This is Brian Spitz - I am the owner of the Big State. I wanted to reply personally because this is one of those 'one in ten thousand' cases and no one but me can really answer your questions... Every once in a while, less than one out of every 5,000 customers, we come upon a situation that's virtually unsolvable. I am sorry to say that your situation fits into that category. I knew as soon as I saw your review exactly what 'address' I'd find when I cross-referenced your name in our database, and I was right. I am afraid that your situation involves a conflict that cannot be resolved outside of a major court endeavor. And that in and of itself isnt scary to us/ why we cant help -- we are closing on a home this month that's taken us two years to resolve in title. We have helped that seller fight (and win) a 2 year court battle with his family. It was painful, and that's really a rare level of complexity - but we did it for him and we can do it again -- provided the law allows us to help. In your case there is a new law in Texas that makes THIS company incapable of helping you find a resolution. And I dont want to get more specific "in public", but let me just say that if you look at all the people who have to get on board to make your transaction happen, consider their relationships, and then know the Courts in Texas have recently ruled that people in YOUR SPECIFIC SITUATION cannot use an investor or home buying company in pursuit of solving that problem. Confusing, I know. But it's basically a law that says "you can get help - but not through a company who is buying the home.' And while I am sure the 'bench' meant to look out for folks dealing with your kind of conflict, in reality they are hurting more than helping. The courts just took away one of the few resources that people like you turn to in order to afford the legal battle you've got ahead. If you reach out to me personally, I will give you the name of an attorney you can reach out to and send you the case law that's barring us from helping you. And at the end of the day, I am sorrier than anything that someone hasn't made this clear to you already. The truth is we have been understaffed, but that's been corrected, but even still, very few people know how to answer this kind of question. Here at Big State there's only about 3 that could have pointed you in the right direction (out of more than 25 employees). So, while I have no excuses for you not having this info sooner, I can tell you that a) I absolutely know what your problem is, b) I can tell you where to go to try and find a solution through the legal system and c) there is no other way for you to get your goals accomplished other than through a court battle. I would be happy to visit with you more about what to do next. Just email me and we can set up a time.

Funny I see all these high praises for this company. I signed a contract with them six months ago and they haven't done anything. Everytime I call it's the same thing. We told you your situation would take longer or it's not in my hands anymore and our title department is really busy.
Ken and the team at Big State made the whole process easy! We needed to move the house for a family member and lived 6 hours away. The transaction went smooth and took a load of stress off of the family. Would use them again!
While the sale went fine, we did a 30 day leaseback. The company has refused to pay us for the security deposit and the days not used. Their agent stopped answering phone calls and texts and every time I have called their office they say they will look into it and never get back and haven't paid us the money they owe us, per our signed contract.
