Dedra I'm sorry about your experience. We take in wild animals but not domestic animals and color is not a distinguishing feature for determining that but may be a factor. It's impossible for me to comment further without knowing more about the bird that you brought in. I'm also sorry that you took the time and the bird ended up dying. I'm guessing that it had injuries beyond a broken leg.

The worker was extremely rude and would not take a gray dove that had a broken leg I found in my backyard, she said it was the wrong color. Regretfully it died today.
Im sorry about your experience trying to find WCA. The only public gate that gets locked is on Ascot north of our facility. McClellan locks it at 5pm. That beyond our control and isnt commonly used. Out gate is locked at 6pm. This is done because intake is closed and to protect our staff. I hope that you did find us and got the bird to us. We appreciate that you cared enough to work to bring it in.

My gps couldn't find this place because many roads on the converted base were locked so I never got there after driving around for an hour. I had a small bird that got stuck in spilled glue at a shopping parking lot. Sad!
I am so thankful for this place! We had a mourning dove build a nest on our porch, and we were enjoying watching the babies hatch and grow. When the dove abandoned her nest suddenly, the Wildlife Care Association was able to take the baby we brought. Very happy to know where to bring any future rescues as well!
Everybody was very friendly and helpful I brought in a baby squirrel and they knew exactly what to do with it which is more than I could say for myself
They dont return phone calls; my baby bird died. Im so heartbroken.
