Yes, water levels are high for this time of year. Safety is always a primary concern and responsibility and therefore we have positioned staff at portages to audibly give guidance to paddlers to keep them safe and orderly so that people can get out of their boats when portaging. Ideally during busy times we would position staff at portages to assist with the carrying of boats, but this added safety precaution requires staff to stay stationary so they can observe and instruct all approaching boats. Reservations are always encouraged so we can assure the proper equipment you desire reserved for your group. Please note that if you chose to paddle with us in the future, first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon tend to be a bit quieter.

It was very crowded despite reservation. Our thought was reservations at each time would have a set amount that would permit ease of kayaking especially in the narrow areas wirh low branches made worse wirh high water level. The river being high also closed shoot the tube and required climbing a steep portage. The combination of crowd and portages created a significant backup and staff at this designated area was asking everyone to move faster and not offer assistance. Poor planning overall. Same river trip 4 years prior was more enjoyable. Appreciate reply from owner. Our reservation was 10:00 so it was morning.

The river was beautiful - we went early on the morning and had the river to ourselves. It would have been nice for the staff to assist with the portages especially when youre not able to do the big shoot.

People were nice. River was a little mean. Extra rain (current & depth) made it pretty challenging to get under/around numerous fallen trees and caused a third portage over busy roads. Not an easy float for a novice!

The river was great but this company was not. I talked to them on the phone ahead of time and they said they would find out information and get back to me but they never called me back. I missed out on signing up for the bike tour i wanted because the tours filled up while waiting for my call to be returned, so i had to go with the only tour that was left. They did not bring bikes to/from the bike tour location like they were supposed to so we had to rush and ride 20 min up a very steep hill just to get to our bike tour. Fortunately Preserve Historic Sleeping Bear (the bike tour company) was extremely accommodating and brought the bikes back for us, even though it was Crystal Rivers responsibility. PHSB apologized to us several times. We never received an apology from Crystal River. When they gave us the kayaks we were given wrong information several times. At the end of the river trip we were told that they wanted us to bring back the kayaks sooner, even though we had asked at the start of the trip and they did not tell us a specific time, they just said "later." Will not use them again. Next time I'll bring my own kayaks and bikes. If you want to use them for the bike tour make sure they're going to transport the bikes and if not get ahold of PHSB so they can contact them and make things right.
