Hello Janna, It is very sad when rent is not paid, cure or quit notices are sent out, utilities are shut off for non-payment and the owner's home is trashed. We work with all tenants who follow the rules and make an effort to get their rent paid in full but unfortunately, when that does not happen, all belongings in the home have to be put on the curb and disposed of. This is not something we like to do but our fiduciary responsibility to the owner of the home is our top priority and our legal responsibility. We encourage anyone that is having problems paying their rent to call the office before rent is due to work out a payment arrangement. Avoiding our calls, not letting us in to make repairs and not responding to our notices will always yield the same results; eviction and set out. In your particular case, the City of Rock Island had to condemn the home because you refused to let our maintenance department in to make repairs, you refused to clean all of the trash out of your basement that was piled so high you couldn't see the floor and you failed to have working utilities because you didn't pay the bill. McDonnell Property Management followed the city guidelines and ordinances along with your Section 8 guidelines. We do wish you the best of luck in the future. Thank you!

They left me homeless and threw all our belongings away without notice..unfair! Your response is not true my home could never be as you stated due to sec 8 inspections monthly! I also have family living in a few of your properties with similar issues as i had so...see you in court!!

New review June 2022. I am more and more disappointed with McDonnell the longer I live in one of their properties. I also did not respond to the reply to my old review for clarification. McDonnell took control over my appartment complex at the very end of 2021. Starting out I liked them. They asked me for any issues and anything id like to know etc and listened to all the things that needed to be fixed when they took over. They give tennats a maintenence day. Unfortunately they never show up ive waited over 5 months for a light to be fixed and for blinds to put in (never had any) the office is useless because whenever you call about something they say they'll take care of it or they have no idea. Either way it doesn't get done. If you call and ask about when something will get fixed they wont be able to tell you since they dont keep track of their maintenance guys so if they say they'll come fix it you could be next week or few weeks down the road. Ive also called about our shared laundry room and how they dont work and they told me no one else has complained so they must be fine they were recently fixed anyway which was in February i believe. My complex is half empty and everyone leaves to do laundry at the laundromat or somewhere else. They also had my blinds and light down as fixed despite no one ever showing up for them and maintenance randomly showing up to fix things i never asked for. The emergency number also sucks. In the winter my heat went out called the emergency number and no one picked up and 2 hours later i got a call back. Now my air has something wrong with it and they said nothing he can do about it but he'll tell the office and get someone here tommorow. Dont expect them to mow your lawn or shovel for you if your lease provides you that. They seem to cut the grass once a month and at that point its almost up to my knees with bugs everywhere as soon as i step out. In the winter they dont shovel either stairs leading to my appartment were never shoveled during the last (and only) snow i had with them. After calling them they said someone would come clear it but only the sidewalk was done. Not the stairs that lead to my complex. Old review from beginning of 2022: Decent people so far. Doesnt seem to be very informative because every question no one knows the answer to any question you call them for. Step above slum lords but definitely wouldn't be my first choice
