I am sorry you feel that way, Ian. I'm a little confused about some of the very untrue comments you've made, especially since I proved you were lying by sending screen shots of all our conversations to the BBB and they immediately denied your complaint. Here's the truth. On 9/21/15 I stopped out to estimate damages to your nearly collapsed chimney. I proposed 2 options to you. 1) Rebuild ALL damaged masonry 2) Rebuild the top of the chimney only. After explaining to me that you didn't want to spend the money to rebuild, you chose to do the repair that would insure that the chimney wouldn't collapse over the winter. I told you that after the winter we would need to come back to do further re-pointing work (after the ice took out the loose joints) We did the job EXACTLY as proposed and rebuilt the entire top of your chimney, replaced your flue liner, repaired 2 shoulders and repointed the joints that were large enough to repoint w/o grinding. The work came out perfect. The divots you claim we left behind were craters before we raked and cleaned up (typical after over 1000lbs of brick, flue and mortar are removed from a chimney) We did all of this work for $1079. Very far from overpriced! You refused a fireplace inspection even though it was offered free of charge. You said "we're selling the house and don't want to find other problems" You were satisfied when we showed you the finished work and you paid us. In reference to the receipt of payment, YOU lost your copy. I have 2 part contracts. When YOU lost your yellow copy and asked me to send a new one, I took the time to go through hundreds of receipts to take a picture and send it to you. I'm sorry this didn't meet your expectations. You then texted me 8 months later, I texted back. You told me that the inspector found issues with the fireplace and there was re-pointing work to do (the same issue you knew about) You said you'd talk to your realtor & find out exactly what their inspector wanted. You sent me a copy of the report days later, I immediately replied with solutions. It was then that your realtor Denise took over for you. She called me and I spoke with her to great length about the situation. She put me in touch with the buyers agent (we're going on over an hour of phone conversations so far, not including texts). Denise told me that I needed to inspect the fireplace (like I had offered 8 months prior) and I agreed to leave a job in Brighton and stop out there FOR FREE the same day! I was told that she'd contact you to give me access. I waited for 3 HOURS! No call. I called her. NO ANSWER! I then drove past your house on my way to a scheduled job in Hamlin that I was now late for. I didn't hear back from her until 5PM when she yelled at me because I didn't go over there!? I sent her screen shots of the calls I made to her to prove that not only did I call, I went out of my way to accommodate all of you. At that point I offered 3 additional times and dates that I could stop by, I had no response from any of you. The next text I received was days later from Denise. It said "don't worry, owners called someone else to inspect and do the work" to which I replied "ok, sounds good" There was no call or text from you, Ian. You then proceeded to write a nasty review and despite my text to you explaining all of this, as well as the undeniable proof with the screenshots, you continue to bad mouth my company. I tried to resolve this with you like an adult and you threatened me. I sent a reply email to the BBB which you were CC'd in and you called that harassment. Bottom line is you tried to lie to the buyers and tell them that you fixed everything when you knew you didn't and got mad at me when you got caught. I have worked hard for over 20 years in this industry. I have owned/operated this business and take pride in my craftsmanship and customer relations. I STAND BEHIND MY WORK. 17+ years with an A+ rating, worst customer ever. Trust me, do not do business with this person.

WORST CONTRACTOR I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. DOES NOT STAND BEHIND HIS WORK!!! Terrible experience. Mike refused to provide a bill. After asking three times, he texted me a picture of the invoice. He left several huge divots and piles of mortar scattered in my yard. Finally, we've had issues with work completed less than 6 months ago, and he's not returned to fix or at least review his work. He was supposed to come by a few days ago, but didn't show up or call to cancel. We've had another contractor out since Mike has refused to stand behind his work, and the contractor said the original work was over priced, and then he gets called in to clean up behind Eastside pretty frequently. Stay away from this business! EDIT: I finally heard back from Mike (after a month). He sent me nine text messages today telling me that I was wrong and this review hurt his business. No apology for the no show and no offer to come out to the house. EDIT: Mike is texting me again today despite my requests for him to stop harassing me. Wow. EDIT: I've had to report Mike to the Better Business Bureau to get the harassment to stop. I see now that he's simply redirected his lies here. EDIT: Well, I guess contacting the BBB was a bad idea. Despite my instructions the BBB gave Mike my email and he's harassing me via email now.
You only have 1 review with a brand new profile and I have not rescheduled anyone this year named Megan. Hmmm. Strange. The only reason I ever have to reschedule anyone is due to poor/unsafe climbing conditions. I explain this to every customer thoroughly during the initial phone consultation prior to scheduling. I am grounded during winds over 20mph, heavy rain, sleet, snow & lightning. Other than that, I do not miss appointments. I work when I'm sick or sore. In fact, I work sun up till sun down every day. I will admit that at this time of year (mid-November) it does sometimes take awhile to return a call. It's because I'm working my tail off to get all of the late callers jobs completed while also receiving an average of 50-60 calls, texts and emails per day. I'm an owner/operator, I'm only capable of doing so much each day. It's literally impossible to respond to everyone right away and I refuse to sacrifice quality for quantity. Many will agree that I'm worth the wait. 18+yrs with an A+ rating and thousands of repeat and referral customers every year are satisfied with my service and professionalism. If you are a real customer, and not a competitor, I do apologize if you were inconvenienced due to a weather related reschedule. It's recommended that you schedule your chimney service before mid-November, that way if we do have bad weather we have more options and possible dates that might work for you. To date, we have completed 95% of all appointments in November despite the poor weather conditions on several days. We were able to do this because of hard work and long hours. It really is luck of the draw when it comes to this time of year though. Some people will be rescheduled due to weather. If you made the appointment you were properly advised that it was weather pending and you were also contacted and offered other possible reschedule dates on or before the actual service date. I know this because I'm the only person who makes or receives calls, I'm present at every job and I NEVER just skip an appointment. Every one of my customers are important to me, as is my reputation. I haven't received any disgruntled calls, texts, or emails from anyone, which is why I question the authenticity of this review. Please feel free to call me so that we can talk further about this. We had an appointment with East Side Chimney to get our chimney inspected and cleaned. Not only did the owner take over a week to reply to our call, once the appointment was made, he gave a 2 Hour window that he NEVER showed up for. Appalled by this service.
Fantastic company to work with. They helped us to repair some damage to our chimney, and installed a new wood-burning insert. They were fair, prompt, reasonable, and communicated with us throughout. We have zero complaints and will continue to use East Side Chimney in the future. Loving our new stove!
We were very happy with East Side Chimney. They provided a very competitive quote and it was clear they understood the chimney repair business, starting with Mike, the owner. The team that came out to the job were very professional and fixed the crown and cracks, replaced the caps and waterproofed. Very happy with the work and the experience. I would certainly recommend them to others.
Jennifer, as you know, I called you so many times at the only number you left me (your work number) that I have your voice mail greeting memorized. I called you each and every time you called me and you did not answer. It must have taken 20-30 calls to finally get you on the phone. When I did finally reach you, we were out there the next day to service your chimney. As an owner/operator I am out on the road everyday. When Im with a client, or on a roof, I cant answer the phone. If you had left me another number where I couldve texted you, or called you after 5, or if you just answered your work phone any of the times in the 3-4 weeks I tried to reach you, this would not have been an issue. Im glad we were finally able to inspect your chimney after all of that. Looking forward, please leave us another contact number and I will do my best to contact you promptly.

When East Side cleaned my chimney, they suggested I use anti-creosote treatment, then schedule a second cleaning. I have called four times in the past month to follow up/schedule second cleaning and still have not rec'd. a call back. Very disappointing service. They also repaired my chimney cap a few years ago. Update: After being contacted by the owner, I am updating my post to clarify that the chimney cleaning itself was fine. Communication, however, was spotty and, wIth no staffed office, it was difficult to schedule service.
