Have brought my grade level students out to Furnacetown for years and we all loved the experience. This year not so much. Their was no real discussion this year about the Furnace or anyone showing it to our students. The blacksmith didn't demonstrate how they make things, just really a lecture. I could tell my students were not really tuned in. That was really one of the best parts of the trip. The visitor center this year had very limited goods for the students or adults to purchase. Hoping things change to how they've been run in the past for future visitors.

It's a historical spot that is really waning in popularity. Several festivals held here have also been cursed enough to happen during rainy weekends.

We traveled to 40 miles one way on Sunday October 25 and it was closed. The phone message and website said you were open. We were very disappointed.
