I purchased one of the Bogdan Builders homes this past summer. I had been looking for months as it was very hard to find homes close in NW DC that had been upgraded and had the right floor plan. Row homes are tough to find that have a light and modern open floor plan while sharing the square footage on multiple floors and windows on only the front and back. Bogdan and his architect and team did an amazing job. I love my home and the privacy and quality of the finishings. I would have to say the ongoing contact and customer service has been remarkable. Actually have not found another company like them. When my dogs chewed my new cabinets they fixed them, helping me understand the tech in the home, and even contracted them to build me in a home library that looked like it was in the original design. Chris Bogdan, Jesse, and Danny are amazing. I have a beautiful new home yet close in to the historic neighborhoods. I would recommend them to anyone. I wish I had found them before spending so much time!

Hi Ms. Riggs, we sincerely apologize for the negative experience you had. Here at Bogdan Builders we strive to provide the best quality to our homeowners, but we realize occasionally things happen and we could have done better. We would like to individually address each one of the things you mentioned: 1. As you mentioned, our subcontractor Vertigo failed to properly install the callbox system, and it took us some time to find a company familiar with the system enough to complete the job. Due to the subcontractors liability, we attempted to go through their warranty but had no response. We ended up sending two of our personal team members to see what they could do. Upon sending them, the issue was fixed that day. We realize we could have taken action earlier, but we are a small team and often arent able to send our personal team members on site to resolve issues like this. We hire the highest quality subcontractors but sometimes there are bad apples. 2. We refuse to look at/install insulation because the insulation was not only standard insulation, but it far exceeds basic requirements and industry standards. The flooring insulation consists of 1/4 sound matting, 1 of Gypcrete, as well as two soundproof resilient channels, neither of which are required by code, two layers of drywall by code. This was all inspected by CamJap Inspections and DCRA. 3. This was a very busy time for our company and we apologize for the delays with the 30 days. We had a lot of projects in the pipeline that completed all around the same time and did not have the volume to address them all at once. Again, we apologize for the delays but we are a small team and do our best to fit in all of the requests we get. 4. We apologize you felt we were trying to wait out the 1-year warranty. As you had not included in your review, we absolutely completed one year warranty work for your building and each unit inside. Like mentioned above and in your own review, besides initial delays, COVID pushed everything even further back. We are sad to see the words you call us, and there are far more industries to work in where unethical and dishonest work profits better, and we genuinely try to provide utmost quality to our customers. Our company has a rich history in the DMV and many know us for our quality, respect, and legacy in luxury homebuilding. We would not jeopardize our 30 year + reputation by intentionally operating "unethically" or "dishonestly" or however we sadly appear to you. We purchased our first home from Bogdan, a condo in a new building, a little less than a year ago. It appeared beautiful and we were super excited! But during the 10.5 months we have lived here, we have had exceedingly little response from Bodgan, occasional pushback, and have been mostly ignored by them. We - and residents in ALL of the other units - have unresolved issues with the unit (and with the unfinished building as a whole), which have gone unaddressed. After 10 months, we still do not have working security system, which Bogdan is contractually obligated to provide. We do not have a working entry callbox, which they are also obligated to provide. We have no insulation between our unit and the unit above, which Bogdan refuses to look at, let alone repair/install. And we still have unfinished cabinets and other small issues - all things Bogdan is contractually obligated to address and complete. Most disturbingly, Bogdan has washed their hands of the security system, repeatedly telling us it's the fault of the contractor they hired (Vertigo), and refusing to hire another company or to force their contractor to do the work. Bogden did not perform their "30-day inspection" until we lived in our unit for 4.5 months; and did not address any issues we contacted them about repeatedly in that time. After the "30-day inspection," they did nothing for another 2 months, then covid-19 hit the US. For the past 4 months, they've used the pandemic as an excuse as to why they have not addressed structural issues that should have been addressed 10 months ago. Or even 5 months ago. We have requested discussion with the manager, owner, or CEO, and have been met with deaf ears. We - and the residents of ALL of the other units in our building - believe they are intentionally waiting for their 1-year warranty to run out. I do NOT recommend working with this unethical and dishonest company.
