They got over 6 different bugs/insects species. They got BED BUGS, scabies off and on, flies, ants, midges/fleas, mosquitoes and roaches! Festation! Even in the wellness center, with a dirty carpet! Got over 20 bites, I got scars on my both my arms!! Maintances spray fumes and dont let all of the staff know! And they allow residents to hoarder! I couldn't even put in my 2 weeks notice because everytime I'm there at work I'm itching so much from bugs and fumes! And Silvergate the (Owner) could little more when it comes too giving more hours, overtime, and its taking 2 years just take that dirty, gross carpet out of the the med-room, and it is still there!! And for the pass few weeks I'm asking my child if he is itching in fear bringing bed bugs or scabies to my home! Now the staff, nurses, and caregivers is, wonderful, hard workers, caring, nice and kind. The workers are amazing, caring to the residents! It's sad that the cleaness of the building is poor.

Nathan, your mother was a wonderful addition to our community, and we were grateful to have had her stay with us for so many years. We recognize the burden the current cost of care places on families as loved one’s age and care service needs grow. Fortunately, our dedicated team of professionals works diligently to assist family members with identifying all available resources to help lessen that concern and provide the highest levels of care as affordably as possible. After your mother’s condition changed, we recommended she be transferred to one of our Suites neighborhoods, where the time needed to care for her could be managed more effectively. We know that alternative communities can provide other benefits, and we’re happy that with your decision to move her, she was able to remain in the same general area to be near her friends, family and outside medical services. To clarify…some time ago, we did have an impaired driver cause structural damage to our street-facing building. Fortunately, our structural engineers and contractors were on the scene the very next day to assess the damage, request the city’s approval for reparation and repairs are now complete. We think it’s also important to know that Silvergate is a locally-owned business that has been operated by the same Southern California family for more than 30 years. We are proud of the dedication and support our owners provide year-round to our residents, their families, our managers, the staff and our local community. You will notice positive reviews are all one year + old. The new reality... in 2022: Silvergate has SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED their rates, due to new owners focused on profits, not residents. As a result, I was forced to move my mother in April 2022, to find more affordable care. I was grateful to find a NEWER and QUIETER facility, with more care staff, and a pool, for $3,000 A MONTH LESS than Silvergate - thank you Meridian. Don't let the remodeled front lobby fool you. The plumbing at Silvergate frequently breaks. Attending staff are sparse and slow. Look for yourself: plywood has covered the building exterior for over a month, where a car from the busy street outside crashed into the building. Care charges for Meridian, with my mother assessed in April 2022: $1,400 a month. Silvergate's charge for the same level of care: $3,800 a month! That's $2,400 MORE EACH MONTH. I was advised to move my mother into memory care, despite her NOT having a dementia diagnosis (evaluated by 2 separate Kaiser doctors in April 2022). Why? Because Silvergate didn't want to actually deliver her the level of care they were charging us for ($3,800/month). And of course... Memory Care is more $$. Silvergate is about profits, not residents.

This senior community is truly five star- from the beautiful finishes, to the warm and inviting staff. You can truly feel that the residents here are adored and well cared for- and having fun! Joan, the Executive Director, is an absolute pleasure, and has the biggest heart for her residents and staff alike. Highly recommend!

My parents have lived here 2 years. THE ELEVATOR DOESN'T WORK 60% of the time. They tell me in case of an emergency they'll carry my 300 lb father down stairs. Also, the water goes off weekly. The ac didn't work during the hottest season and they're grossly short staffed. I put my parents in here for peace of mind, having had cancer myself and I've taken them to MORE appointments than I ever did!!! There's no one here to help. Weekends? No staff... fishsticks?! REALLY?! Upon completion of this review, they're still begging me to remove it and threatening my GRIEVING father with eviction over the truth!!!! BTW, don't pay any attention to response from Joan Rink! She'll pee on you and tell you it's raining. They've begged me to take down this true review... as my mother died and they're threatening dad, not allowing him to grieve. She literally walked into his apartment and said she couldn't wait for him to move! So, we listened to Joan Fink and moved Dad immediately because she repeatedly tormented him about leaving. Now, we're hiring an attorney to get his deposit back! They booted him out and kept his money! THIEVES!!! Also, what started all this mess was during mom's funeral, $20,000 of all her jewelry was stolen! Miraculously, after reporting it to Joan Fink, she said, it's not stolen, it's just missing. 3 days later, the Sheriff shows up and Miraculously the next day, all but 5items returns! I MOVED DAD TO SANTIANNA IN CARLSBAD. A GORGEOUS, CLEAN, ELEVATOR WORKS, GREAT FOOD, WONDERFUL MANAGEMENT, TONS OF ACTIVITIES, 10/DAY! TODAY DAD SAID HE FINALLY CAN GRIEVE MOM. HE'S SO HAPPY THERE! RUN. 2 months later... and they're still trying to steal from my father!!! Dad gets a call from the bank and he is told Silvergate took $3,000 out of his account! REALLY?!!!Thank God he checked so the charges could be reversed! What are they doing to dementia patients who are being robbed by them? Oh my God!!!! My father has been gone a year now... happily living at Santianna in Carlsbad. Recently I received a call from him stating he's filing Medicare fraud case against Silvergate. They're still charging Medicare for Covid tests a year after he moved?!
