This is most disfuncional organization I have ever attended. I am a veteran and struggle with signing up for classes, recieving my books on time, the classes are terrible (IT BS). Honestly the counselors are the most reachable and you still have to schedule weeks in advance to get an appointment. If you can attend any other college. Do it.
I had an advising hold on my account which prevented me from signing up for my classes and I had no idea until I tried signing up for classes and was met with an error message. However, I couldnt make an appointment with my advisor because she did not have any appointments available. When I called the advising office I was told the only way I could get my hold removed was to meet with my advisor. After explaining that my advisor did not have any appointments available, I was notified that my advisor had her appointments turned off online but they would be able to schedule me to meet with her two days from now. I expressed my confusion as to how she could turn off her appointments considering I have to meet with her to sign up for classes and I was told that advisors do that whenever its peak advising time. However, I tried to schedule an appointment with her earlier in the semester and she still did not have any available appointments, so she has had her appointments turned off for a while. I am very angry at this entire pointless situation, I do not understand how FIU can prevent me from signing up for classes because I need to see an advisor but they allow my advisor to turn off her appointments so I cannot schedule an appointment to meet with her.
