As a veteran needing assistance in navigating the college landscape, I found the staff at the veterans office to be lazy and dismissive. They often refused to even see me and the volunteers at the front desk weren't able to help or answer questions because they were volunteers not experts, and it wasn't their job. So to sum it up.... they are lazy, entitled, and shouldn't be in that job position if they hate helping veterans.
This rating is for the lack of communication from this institution. I enrolled in courses this past April and quickly dropped them once I realized I could not afford them. Upon enrolling, no type of communication was given on any deadlines or dates for dropping courses. (No emails or information stated on the registration site). Even while dropping the course, I did not receive any type of notification or information about any consequences for dropping the course. Yesterday I received a final invoice notification threatening to report me to the North Carolina Revenue Department. This was literally the first type of communication I received about owing any type of balance. 4 emails later and I finally found out that I was charged 25% for dropping the course after the term started. This should be communicated on the registration page. I should not have to dig around your main website to find out your registration policies. The price that I'm paying for the dropped courses is half of what I would've paid if I took the classes anyway. That would've been a better outcome. To top it off, I received a "weekly invoice notification" AFTER letting them know that the final invoice was the only one I received. This felt like a slap in the face. Also being told to have a good day.
I have completed an associate degree here. On top of the degree I was able to get several free certifications. I'm my opinion it was a great place with ample opportunity to succeed. They even help with resumes, mock interviews, internships, and future careers after graduation.
New people at the international student office are rude, lack of knowledge, not helpful, and forget everything.
